Railspin vs. Wallspin
« on: July 26, 2006, 10:57:09 AM »
So something I've noticed since I've learned how to do the wallspin is that I've been having a problem reverting to doing the railspin. I remember it being no problem when I started doing pk back in the day but now it seems like one of those things that I have to think about. I've been getting better at doing them now because I've been practicing constantly for the past week. I'm just wondering if anyone else has had the same problem.

If you mean palmspin, The exact opposite happened to me. I couldn't do a palm spin for awhile (honestly didn't care about learning it) then I tried a wallspin in my gym, Nailed it first try. Then I released the palmspin is almost exactly the same and got those down in about a day. Just remember when your practicing, Jump up not over the obstacle and make sure your inside arm is planted well.

Well i will say taht wall spins are harder because you cant grab onto the wall like you can a rail.

true but in a wallspin your hand can spin freely with your body.

i learned to palmspin about 2 weeks ago and i still cant railspin. palm spins i thought were one of the more simple things that ive learned thus far.

A palm spin is the same as a rail spin (or well, a palm spin is a rail spin on any small, vaultable surface).  I think you mean wallspin?

thats how i learned how to do a wall spin. i guess you call it a wall spin on a slanted wall. im not sure the "technical" name for it. i just found stuff at a big slant and worked up to vertical walls. its a nice approach.
