Anyone had Microfracture Knee Surgery?
« on: August 24, 2009, 12:06:17 PM »
So after having my knees bother me for several years and having them really bother me the last 8-9 months, I had Microfacture knee surgery on my left knee to try to replace parts of my meniscus that had been torn and delaminated.

I am curious if anyone else has had this done?  If you have had it done, how has your knee held up to the rigors of parkour?

The recovery process is usually 4-8 months.  From what I have read, fibrocartilage is created during that time as a response caused by the trauma of the microfractures.  How effective the prodecure is can be dependant on how strong the body's response is the trauma. I am wondering if I do enough strenuous enough upper body weight workouts to produce a strong hormone response if that could possible help the growth of the fibrocartilage in the knee?  I realize that the hormone response caused by workouts like "Starting Strength" generally affect the muscles, but do they affect joints and cartilage as well? Anyone know?

High test isn't good for joints and connective tissue. Higher GH and such should be.

Ummm, yeah it really depends on how your body responds to it.

It is possible to do upper body to induce such a hormonal response, but it has to be progressive volume and then probably working into two a days. If you work with rings a lot it's possible.
