Overcome
« on: August 23, 2009, 01:18:51 PM »
Just a compilation of summer trainings. Not my usual style of editing either. So this is titled overcome because this summer was about overcoming my fears with new tricks and my weaknesses. I didn't accomplish near as many of my goals as I had planned, but that leaves more for me to improve on. HD link coming soon.

although i don't have the experience with tricking to give you much critique there (though i was impressed with the speed and creativity in some of your freerunning), you definitely have some good strength and explosiveness that's visible in your movements.

i would say just be careful with the big drops; obviously a video can't show how frequently you train them, but the progress made is minimal. if you're looking to overcome fear at heights either work on movements in trees/scaffolding/precarious situations to develop that confidence, or pick a safer (but likewise scary) alternative such as cliff jumping.

Thanks guys, in terms of the bigger drops, they're very tame compared to the size of the ones I did starting out (I had all the bad misconceptions of what parkour really was).  I've been working on conditioning a lot more lately and I've been trying not to do them as much as I used to.

Well put my friend.
I'm glad to see your focusing more on conditioning Wil, it shows man.
Good stuff.
What if you fail?
I won't.

Thanks! Funny thing is, my climb-ups were my weakest point going into the summer, lol.

you have amazing climb ups, how many  pullups do you do a day? like 1000?

my mind is constantly moving, one day my body will be strong enough to keep up.

you have very nice form in all of your moves, some of them are very creative too  ;D
I like Tricking and Free Running, i don't think i actually do parkour, because i do it for fun and self expression, which would change the term to free running.

Thanks guys! In terms of training, its not really about tons and tons of pullups, its about learning how to use your whole entire body to help you.  Learning muscle-ups really improved my climb ups a ton.  In terms of height for tricking, its really about blocking and raising your center of gravity.  Good form like a very tight tuck and proper set as well as using your arms RIGHT will immensely improve any trick or flip.
