FiveTen Freerunner V1 review
« on: August 17, 2009, 10:39:57 AM »
Didn't see on mike's list

Fit- I absolutly love how the shoes feel, it feels snug and secure yet comfortable I haven't had any issues of my foot sliding at all. 5/5

Flexibility- I found that the shoe is pretty flexible around the ball of the foot area perfect for wall runs, precisions, tic tacs, etc. but they're not something you want to do HIIT sprint workout in. 4/5

Weight- These shoes are fairly light, they weigh about as much as any good running shoe would, the only heavy part is the padding.4/5

Grip- Some times it feels like I can simply walk up brick, concrete, stone, plaster, wood, etc. the point is that the grip on these shoes is amazing on rough textures such as brick. railings, metal, etc. is a little trickier, I've been successful in climbing metal light poles before though and in rail precisions so it's not that much of a problem, you just have to adapt and adjust. I have used these shoes for 5 months and the grip still feels good as new, the little circles at the bottom will fade but they don't really matter towards the grip itself.5/5

Breathability- The top of the shoes is leather, but it has small holes in it like mesh so your feet don't get sweaty and hot, no problem here.5/5

Cushioning- The cushioning on the show is great!... a little to great. I wouldn't reccomend this shoe to someone who hasn't gotten the landings and rolls down yet because the padding could hide bad form, this is one of the things that separates V1 and V2 because the V2 have less padding.3/5

Durability- These shoes have held up great, the top is leather so it doesn't shred when doing climp ups and the grip still feels good as new, no problem here.5/5

Price- at $95.00 I thought they were worth every penny.

Comments- If you are a beginner and do'nt have the roll or landing implanted in your brain with good form, don't get these shoes yet because the cushioning could hide bad form.

Pro's- Fantastic grip on rough textures
                 Good flexibility
                 Good breathability
                 Great durability
                 Good weight
                 Great fit

Cons- Too much cushioning
Not to grippy on smooth surfaces.

They seem awesome... Are they S1 or Mystique?

Sorry to revive an old review here but the rubber on the V1s is Phantom not S1. Pros are it's has high friction on rough surfaces, but not as good as the mystique, and not nearly as durable. It's the only non-marking stealth rubber.
Train safe, train fun.

I have had them for well over a year. Once you use them allot the cushioning will go down allot. They are great shoes but I moved on to Nike Dart. I like the darts because they are greaet on artificial surfaces.
