National Jam Hawaii?????? DISCUSSION THREAD

 Hey guys, so as some of you know I was finally able to make it to a jam on the mainland. It was a great experience and it wont be the last. I am already panning another trip. It was awesome and quite addictive to train with you all.

 So, to the point, I got asked several times when I would host a national jam. The reality is that I never thought of it for I know that to get here you can only fly, unless you are super bad ass and want to go for the swim. As we all know flying is not a cheap, but then again, several people mentioned they would be down to come. After all it is Hawaii anyway.



 So, the reason of this post is to see how many would be willing to venture for a Fri-Sat-Sun jam anywhere around Dec-Jan-Feb where the winter in less fun over there and most people are off school. I would be able to host quite a few people, I have good size yard for several tents and I can fit about 10 or so inside the house. I am sure some of the other guys could help out as well. I might even ask CF to help me host some since it is closer to town anyway.

 Those of you who want to come early and stay later will get some extra Hawaii love.

 So here is the deal, what I need from you is the following information.

 Name and community.
 Chances of being able to make it.
 Dates that work best for you.
 How long will you stay.
 Will you need to be hosted.

 I figure if I can get a COMMITTED 50 people I can go ahead and start planning something out. We have tons of spots and hikes. Not to mention the beaches.

 Suggestions for other months are welcome keep in mind that I will consider the ones where most people can come at the time. We got plenty of time to plan this, the sooner the better as the tickets will be cheaper the sooner to buy them.

Winter Break (I get about a month off or so from mid Dec to Mid Jan.
Any time Really... I can afford to take a few days off school for it.
A week or two.
Hosting would be very nice, Though I could bring a tent.

Before you all jump on board and say you are 99% or whatever, i would suggest you go to www.kayak.com and look at prices.  A roundtrip ticket from the continental US is usually somewhere between 600-900 even with ample planning ahead.  Not trying to discourage, but do be aware of the cost.

I'd be down for it. But one thing I think might influence people is length. Its a quite a bit of money to get there, and it's a long flight so having it last  as many days as possible would make it more enticing. Instead of a jam perhaps  a 'camp'.

I wouldnt mind hosting a "camp" after all hikes are on the plans. What do you suggest?

Are we talking Dec-Jan-Feb of this winter? i.e. Dec '09/Jan-Feb '10? Or are you talking about a little over a year from now? Because that will make a difference as to whether I personally can make it, and lots of others as well.

I think you will get more of a response if you set it for a little over a year from now, to give people a chance to save up.

It's also worth mentioning that prices (usually) skyrocket during the holidays. If I had the money I would definitely go, but 600 is a bit much.

Ill be out of hawaii late next year, that is the only thing. I can always have a full week of jamming. With hikes, beach and what not.

Tis true, the cheapest I could find for new years week was like 900 something.

I'm sure hotels aren't cheap there, so... Probly can't stay long unless you guys put me up. 2-3 days maybe.

If you're worried about finding a FREE place to stay, camping is always a cool option....  I've got tents and sleeping bags I could lend to peoples.  here's a link to the camping sites on Oahu.  http://www.honolulu.gov/parks/permits.htm  Depending on when you wanna do this ozzi, I could host 3-4 people.
