A good survival plan is to nuke a big city, like Houston. Wait a few weeks for the radiation to dissipate to non-lethal levels and go to Houston in fallout gear, build a fallout shelter, and live there for a few years. After you leave the shelter a few years later, all the zombies will be long dead.
You will have a rather large area at your disposal, with plenty of wreckage to defend you. Zombies will probally never come to Houston. All of them in Houston died, and any that tried to come died because of Radiation. Every zombie within 100s of miles will be dead.

meh, idk dude, nuking a whole bunch of people is kinda evil....and there are chances theres still radiation....i mean when the US nuked japan the radiation lasted 35-40 years...

and that was awhile ago when we didnt have the technology we do now; nukes are stronger than before...

youd definitely have an easier time going somewhere else than waiting 40+ years to go to houston....

where maybe all those people you nuked have turned to radioactive zombies, lol
