I think it's cool that a lot of kids are starting young, so long as they're starting for the right reasons (not to look cool or show off or anything).
However, those kids tend to be "weeded out" quickly so as long as they dont hurt themselves or give parkour a bad name (by tresspassing and sparkle like that), meh, age dont matter.  Wisdom and Maturity... those things are key in my book =P

I started focusing on parkour on my 16th birthday, and wish I had started earlier.
If I thought about everything I did, then I would never do anything at all.

I'm 33. just starting. But I've always been the kid to jump off just about anything. My daughter is 5 and she really likes running and jumping with me.

In my opinion, a good age to start is probably around fourteen.

Even though I started at nineteen.

Micah, You and I both know your 14. But yes 14 is a good age. But it doesn't really matter. It does seem that kids have an easier time starting. They haven't been in this world long enough to submit themselves to the stupid stereotypes of this messed up world. There bodies still feel that free movement is natural and not a act of immaturity.
Weight training alongside parkour always benefits, it never takes away.

I'm also thirty-three, with a background in track and field and cross-country. Still thin, moderately active and in decent shape.
Age is just another obstacle. Get over it.

like everyone else is sayin, there is no normal starting age. i didn't start up parkour until about 4 months ago, and i'm 21. :P i wish i started earlier, but better late than never! ;) i've been really active before parkour though, so it's not like i jumped into parkour from no physical activities.

Better Late THAN NEVER GOSH THAT IS SOOOO TRUE!!!!!

I tried it a bit when I was 15, had surgery that kept me off my feet for a while, and now I'm really dedicating myself to it. I'll be 17 in a few months. And like a lot of people are saying, I wish I had started earlier.

Seems like a lot of the really skilled practitioners started in their young teenage years.

I started at 13 and right now I'm about to turn 15 in 2 weeks.

20 months went by really fast  :o

i started like 5-6 months ago and im 15 so yea any age is good to start and so u just have to dedicate yourself to it.
Dedication is what motivates people to do what we love. without it we will never succeed in doing what we love.

age doesnt really matter, dedication, maturity and muscle development matter.  i have seen kids that are 10 practice parkour and they are decent but their muscles are underdeveloped so they cant do to much, but when they do get older they will have trained enough to do practically anything.  Age doesnt matter and if you really want to just go out now no matter what
