L-sit pains
« on: July 30, 2009, 09:01:28 AM »
When I do L-sits from a bar hanging, I can get my legs perpendicular to the ground but when I hold it I get pretty bad pains in the lower back. I tighten my abs as hard as possible and that doesnt help. Why do these affect my lower back so much, and how can I reduce the pain involved. Do I need to just keep working on them with bent legs to help strengthen my abs and back before I go back to the full version? Thanks

Stretching your hams wouldn't hurt. Your hammies might be pulling on your lower back, i don't think it would hurt though.

Tight hip flexors especially psas major. Stretch them

Anytime abs exercises hurt your lower back it's generally tight hip flexors b/c psoas major has origins on the lumbar spine

I confirm what Steve says.  I have problems with lower back pain all the time and stretching my hips flexor almost always clears it up.
