INPK host midwest 2010??
« on: July 22, 2009, 01:15:43 PM »
So one thing that was discussed at house of pizza was about INPK hosting the midwest jam next year.  I think we can do it but its going to take a tremendous amount of planning and it's all of  us to work together.  On the other hand this would be a great way for INPK to show who we are as a community that is starting to come together. If this is something that we want to do we need to call it pretty soon.  Before another city calls it.  ( I know muse is eying it)

I think we should have it in Indy and maybe on sunday take a trip to bloomington's rock query.  but we still ahve lots of time to plan and it's going to take just that.. a lot of planning.

So what do you guys think?

I agree that we should host the midwest jam next year, so we need to hurry and claim it. Its within a year's time, so we will have alot of time to plan this out. And also a lot of time to progess our skills physically and mentally, and to grow as community. Hosting this jam will also give us an opportunity to make InPK known or more well known. So, I am down to help and work together as a team!!!  ;D

Anyone else??

Pat, I like everything you said except the rock quarry idea. It would not be a good place for that many people to be at and its really way too dangerous for a jam. Its a great place for a small group of people to go as long as they are careful but not a good jam spot. By the way you need to come sometime and see it.

How many spots are there to train at?

How about making a list for us to discuss?

Agreed with Conway and Pat. So much planning, and we definitely need to make sure we have enough spots. I haven't been to Indy with the Indy traceurs, but it seems like you guys have found a lot of new spots. Ummm, I will help as much as I can. I will start getting on the forums everyday to check and see if there is anything new going on. Sorry for not posting enough..lulz. <3

My main concern is having  enough places for everyone to sleep.  I think having  enough to do isn't a problem.

I agree dylan... as much as I think it would be fun to go to the rock query.  I think it would be to much for a Midwest jam. Maybe it can be a day trip for the togoatus jam.  I think that might be much more reasonable.

But like you said at the House of Pizza, we need an itinerary of locations and duration to stay
there, etc. Let's start working on it eh wot?!

we need to pull the noblesville people out of their bubble for this one.  Maybe we can use their gym to house people for the weekend.  Then as we jam, we'll put the stuff in a corner or something.

But regardless, that is my biggest concern.  I feel that the curriculum could be figured out in a weekend or two of training.  However, it is very important to me that we do this right. I would like to have this jam well structured, so that everything will flow well and lots of fun for all.

Everyone.. I have some pretty badass news.  Aladdin and I went out the other day at a school by my work.  I have always stayed up front by some rails.  Well Aladdin was curious what was past the baseball field, so we went.  What we found was jamazing.  It is tech high school, including it's campus.  Lots of concrete structures, Great diversity, and open fields.  I think we found the place where the jam would best be held. I cant wait to show you guys at togoatus.

The word TOGOATUS just gives me chills now. I can't wait. Any official date yet? I need to request it off.

i think it be a good idea to organize something were we trade a community service for housing, advertising, promotion etc.

That's actually a really good idea Alex (and I hope that other throw their opinions into this mix) but I feel that parkour
is really still so small, unheard of, underground, etc. that really no company, be it major or minor will want to help us out.
Unless someone has a family business  :P

well, fer 1, i was thinkin more along the lines of local government than a bussiness. 2. yes it is but thats y it would be such a great oppertunity not only for promoting the jam or INPK, but the intire disipline as a whole and there communities.
