Hey guys, a while ago I got an Iron Gym pull-up bar(the kind you put in your doorframe) and I'm quickly getting bored with just pull-ups, chin-ups, and push-ups on it. Any recommendations of excercises?

Front levers, back levers, side levers, one arm chin/pull are a few ideas.

Look at these guys.

Psst.  Shae, you can't do a side lever on a doorway pullup bar.   :P

Chris's list is golden.  The only thing that is missing is to Skin the Cat.

Do you know how to train for them? I could provide some tastey tips and articles if you're interested:)

it is hard to overload the lower body for strength without weights.  The Bar-Barians do some pistol work but thats about it from what i understand.

That would be nice. Most of the stuff in the Bar-Barians video I can do on my bar because I dont have enough room.

Chris thanks for the article.

So you hold the car with both hands but pull yourself up on one side?

Right.  Keep the side that you are not pulling on with a straight arm.

Ok thanks. Also, when doing an L-sit pullup, my L-sit is fine going up but when I start going down, my body tilts forward making my legs go straight lest I hit my face on the wall. What am I doing wrong?? When trying the front lever progression, I cant seem to get into an inverted hang position. I always have my legs fall back down.

One more thing; When doing the archer pullups, am I supposed to get my chin over the bar? I can't get close to that keeping one arm straight.

yes -- if you cannot then try to get your unweighted max over 10, build up weighted pullups or work on negatives.

Hey Chris, would archer pullups be a good way to help build up to OAC's and the like? 'Cause from what it sounds like it's almost you entire BW on the one pulling arm.

They are an assistance exercise that helps to build up to OAC/OAP.  They are significantly easier though.  I can do quite a few (don't know exact number, at least 5-10) archer pullups but still only about halfway to the OAC (I have been taking a break from OAC for a bit, btw)

Hmmm... But they wouldn't be a bad gauge of strength though would they? And yeah, I'm taking a break from the OAC too.

Thanks Chris. Also, I only have free weights. Any ideas how I can do weighted pullups?
