Ride The Drive Demo: Sunday, August 30, 2009
« on: July 20, 2009, 09:05:50 AM »
Kathy has another opportunity for us. Madison's Ride The Drive Event! The city will be closing off part of downtown to encourage bike and pedestrian traffic. They have asked us to pick a spot to hang out at and jam/demo for the day.

The event goes from 8:00 to 2:00. Tentatively, our spot will be at the top of State St; right at the capitol, which will give us the Philosopher's Stones, the archway thingy by the old children's museum spot, and the capitol steps to play on.

Let me know if you're planning to attend, questions, etc.

Will totally be there! Hoping to make it down a bit early to get in some Madison training before hand but of course I'll be in touch about that when the time comes.

Awesome. :D The more people, the better.

***FYI***

The website currently says we are there at 11:00, but we are actually there for the whole day (8:00-2:00), so plan on the whole day. I have an email to them to fix it.

So we are still on for 8:00am. Plan to be there about 15 min early to warm up, regroup, etc.

Anyone going to be swinging around by watertown? I'd love to go, but I don't have a ride.

All about it, hoping to be there Saturday before hand. Coming from Appleton but if I do hit Madison Saturday I may be able to commute and carpool anyone in the area who doesn't have a ride. I'll be bringing water again as I'm sure hoping its beautiful out and parkour all day we are going to need the hydration. If anyone else is thinking Saturday too please post so as perhaps a shared room somewhere would be in order. Let me know by Wednesday or Thursday on the forum here if Saturday sounds like a plan for any of you. Can't wait and hope to see a lot of you out there doing your best!

Thanks so much for making the trip down, James, and for providing water! :D Looking forward to seeing you and training with you again!

EVERYONE PARTICIPATING:

I just got our confirmation email from RtD. PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING CAREFULLY!!!

1. Downtown will be closed to traffic that morning so plan accordingly. I suggest getting dropped off at the intersection of Gorham (or Johnson, depending on the direction you're coming) and Carroll. If you're driving, parking in the Carroll St. ramp (like you would for training at MATC) would be best. Park as close to the State St. side as you can.

2. Be aware that because downtown will be closed to traffic that morning, traffic along alternate routes will be gnarly, so it may delay your arrival. Plan to have your feet touching the Philosopher's Stones at 7:45 am. Leave early if you have to. :D

3. Here is the map for the event. Take a look at it, print it if you need to, and use it to plan your arrival:

http://www.cityofmadison.com/transportation/ridedrive/route.cfm

4. If you absolutely have to have your vehicle nearby for loading/unloading, let me know. I have a very, very limited number of vehicle passes you can use for loading/unloading ONLY. If you use one, bring the pass in your vehicle and come to Mifflin & Fairchild to be escorted to the site by a RtD volunteer. ALL VEHICLES must be off the route by the time the event starts.

^^ I'd really rather not deal with option #4, there, if I don't have to. But I can. Let me know and I will get you a pass.

Be on time!!! Plan to be early!!!

This is going to be great.

Epic success with many thanks to everyone who participated. A special shout out to the Chicago crews who decided the trip was one worth making, the event was just that much better with you guys there! Can't wait to see footage and write ups if anyone is gonna be hooking us up with that in the future. Again today went splendidly and thank you to all who made it out!

Amazingly Successful. Thank you guys for letting us Chicago Traceurs Crash your Demo!
Special thanks to Muse for setting it up!
It was a very nice 100% pure Parkour Demo/Session
(I'm Grip, Guy in the BLUE shirt)
I like Tricking and Free Running, i don't think i actually do parkour, because i do it for fun and self expression, which would change the term to free running.
