stand on a stair and touch the ground. :D

Umm... Yeah... How about we don't try and kill ourselves... Try touching your palms to the ground first.

Oooh, flexibility challenges?

I'm working on getting back to perfectly flat on the side splits.  I'm fairly close right now, and I'm pretty much there with front splits.

Once I get that, then I'm going to work on holding that while suspended between things.  As a teen I could do this for minutes at a time.  I even got to the point where hopping into the splits was pretty easy.  It took about two or three years to lose the ability to do that after I quit Tae Kwon Do, and it's taken about 3 years to get close to getting it back.  Sigh.

Touching palms to the floor is a good challenge for most.  If you can do that, try first touching your nose to your knees while standing or sitting, then work on getting your nose further down your legs, like on your shins.

Good times.

My front splits came after my side split, but now I have more flexibility with them than the side. XD

*cough* it's better than my 60 degrees.  I still can't hold myself in a proper Straddle L because of my lack of flex.

Steve is a god compared to everyone on the forums.

But seriously, Steve. Besides doing some sort of flex-every-muscle-in-your-body-and-just-end-up-doing-every-exercise-you-can-think-of-exercise, you ever do something that non-gods can do anymore? Like...pushups?

Well, if your goal is strength you don't really want to do things that aren't going to help you.

I don't really do any pushups anymore except various tough ones like planche progressions... same with dips and pullups (unless I'm working my 30 MUs for time). HSPUs depend.. but I don't do any against the wall anymore.. just freestanding on parallettes or rings.

Pretty much just get stronger and move on to better things. I've been training fairly consistently for 4 years so you should be able to do similar things to me if you do so as well.

I find that, in terms of strength, if I am ever stuck then upping the intensity is a great way to get past a plateau.  Thats totally in my experience, but upping just reps never really helped me with anything.

Even on things like balance, I couldn't balance on a rail very well so I started to train slack line.  Walking on rails is much easier these days without much focused training on rail balance.

Based on my own collection of anecdotal evidence over the years, I politely disagree.  Some of the things you've accomplished are extraordinary and not everyone will be able to match them.  I know you've trained hard to get them, but some people might train just as hard and see lesser results.  I admire your work ethic and discipline Steve, and you inspire me to train harder.  The principle is true: train, get stronger, move on to better (harder, higher intensity) things.

Everyone will see results if they train, but due to the natural variances in health (i.e. medical history) and genetics, everyone will progress at a different rate.

I can put my nose on my knee and hold it but I can get my palm flat on the ground. I get to just past the base of my fingers.

This is true.  Steve knows this better than anyone because I am almost stronger than him and have been training for strength for a much shorter time.

I whole-heartedly agree:) That's why we should train our hardest and smartest and not worry a bit about where we stand in relation to others!

This post was based off of my personal gatherings. Enjoy:)

hah. Well, you guys are of course both correct.

I've spotted MANY times in my own training where I could've had better programming, and subsequently progressed more than I have. So it's not like the things I've done are optimal in any sense of the word.

On the other hand, there are some things that a lot of people may not accomplish even with 10 years.

Hard work will get you results though.. that much is true. :)

Nice!!!!!!!  ;D Thanks for posting those.  I was trying with regular grip.  Next time I'll hold the top of the ring.  Still not sure it's easy, though.  ;)

I'll try regular grip next time, and widthwise facing me. I'm sure both are still possible, but a bit harder than the variations posted above.
