a LOT more than jogging

(I originally wrote Konging, just seems to be implanted in my brain as a form of excercise)

We do conditioning... well I do a lot of jogging every morning.

As everyone said, the conditioning has to be pretty rigorous. The stronger you are, the more in control of your movements you will be. The more control you have, the safer your training will be.

I'd suggest checking out the General Fitness Stickies. They will help you structure your work out.

I want to know how many kids are actually doing parkour right not just imitating it. Because I don't know many.

Thanks. This advice has actually led to me filling up like half of my parkour notebook. Oh and I'm not as I used to be when I was 12. I train a lot and I am actually out to learn as much about parkour as I can.

I am 14 and I train daily and safely. And I do in fact do parkour not free running.

you can't really imitate parkour you can emulate the movements but parkour is more than vaults and climbing, its a philosophy and an art, however i do agree that there are a lot of "Watanabe's" out there.

If you're training every day, be careful not to overtrain.  It can be detrimental to your progression.

I am 17 years old and train daily for parkour along with conditioning 5 days a week. I go to classes weekly to improve technique, condition more, learn new movements, etc. I don't go out and just vault over stuff or run up a wall because I know how to.

However, I agree that there are a lot of kids "imitating" parkour because of what they see on Youtube or in movies like Casino Royale...

Casino Royal is a good movie. I didn't watch it till maybe a few months after I got back into parkour. Me and clinton were sitting there laughing our asses off because Daniel Craig kept failing and had to use a lot of wires while Sebastien Foucan only need wires on the cranes. But where do you go for classes?

Parkour classes? Well you could try the local gymnastics gyms, although it's rare, some do have classes. Other times the instructors actually practice parkour.  More than likely though, it will be very hard to find classes. You just have to rely on Youtube and forums like this for tutorials and advice.

Sebastien Foucan was truly awesome in Casino Royale. I just watched that movie a few weeks ago and was like "yup...kong vault. Yup, nice roll there..."
As for parkour classes--the guy who started parkour in my area (lehigh valley, pennsylvania) teaches weekly classes at a local gymnastics gym about twenty minutes from where I live, so I go up there every Tuesday night. It's a great environment to practice technique, condition, and solidify movement.
If you don't live in the lehigh valley, check around at your local gyms or maybe post on a forum to see if anyone else is doing anything similar to that.

But where do you go for classes?

Depends on where you live.  Try APK's local boards to find other people near you.  There may be groups training that are willing to show you what they know, or there may be an established formal class that one must pay for.  Some Crossfit affiliates have classes, some gyms, sometimes other places.  There's at least 4 different spots for classes out where I'm at in the Bay Area.
