Howzit? I'm Gregg - been here at APK since Jan 2007 or so. I stay Maui, one haole, and older than your mama.

Maui's not paved over yet. Options: join the "dark side" - start doing all the flippy gymnast acrobat tricking stuff, or "go natural". I chose to go natural. Check out the GOING NATURAL board. Join me there.

The Maui scene is very small right now. I work days, some nights. Shiloh works most nights, some days. We both went natural.
Haven't heard from Duke since he went over to the dark side...

Nah. People not used to our sense of humor here, yet. Give em a couple days to adjust. As far as I know, only U$F and a couple Kauai boys do Methode Au Naturelle. :P

Aloha.  Im Shiloh, transplant from HIPK,   mix-breed Hawaiian, barefoot stylee.

Just started PK about a year ago.  Not much of us here on Maui, makes it alot more challenging to get out on your own, but motivated by HIPK/Ozzi and internet films/tutorials.

I've trained with Uncle Gregg, and two others here on Maui. We mostly train alone here though, due to our schedules.

I focus mostly on PK and recently loving the natural method being we have more natural space than urban area.  Luckily I live in Wailuku which is one of the few small city/urban areas where pk can be had.

Mahalo for the Welcome to APK and looking forward to good times here.    :)

Question, I'm thinkin' of moving to Maui, but how parkour friendly is it? I'd live somewhere along the northern coast.
Also, if you guys take interest in this sorta thing, how big are the waves?
Take it all in stride.

Maui isn't set up well for parkour. It's just not that paved, and the man-made obstacles are a bit spread out. After a couple months of training, you'll either move on to free running and all the flips, or Methode Naturelle and run around in the woods. Maui has tons of great MN places.

Do you mean somewhere between Paia and Hana for north shore? North shore gets the winter waves. Today the north shore waves are 0-1' by Hawaiian measurement, or 0-2' faces. Good day for windsurfing or snorkeling. During the winter, north shore waves get BIG... 6-8' faces are pretty common, and at places like Jaws/ Peahi, it can get up to 70' faces - one of the biggest surfing waves in the world.

Hello, people of Maui. I don't actually live there but I will be there for the week.
Maybe we could meet up and do some stuff, if I ever have the chance to get rid of my family.

Good. You're not too far away then. Too bad Duke hasn't been active - he lives nearer, and he's same age. I'll have to see what he's up to. Last I knew he was getting into the flips and stuff...

Let me know what your general schedule is. I'll try to heal fast ;D

Cool. I'm kind of a noob at parkour, so don't expect to much, lol. I'll try to see what my parent are planning and go off of that.

I have 6 hours of training tomorrow, so that's junk. Weds I may have some time in the afternoon. THU I'm working 7:30 am to 9 PM or so. I'll get a little break, but not enough to run down to where you are, train, clean up and get back. FRI: I heard rumors that they changed the schedule. I'll check. I may be able to break away for a bit to train with you.

Might as well warn you - I just finished translating the Methode Naturelle chapters on DEFENSE. LINK, so we'll probably end up doing some slow motion combat on the beach, plus running, carrying stuff, swimming, throwing stuff, crawling, climbing and jumping.

Hi, Nate! Sent you a PM on Weds. Forgot that you're new to APK. Look up where it says "home help search profile MY MESSAGES..."

ANYWAY... that message was to say I had a couple hours Friday afternoon. That's now.

I don't know where you are, and my cell isn't working. I'm sorry it didn't work out. I hope you had a great time while you were here on Maui, and got to play a lot. Enjoy being a kid. Chase your dreams as fast and hard as you can. Try to see how many of them you can achieve.

Aloha! Gregg

Hi, my name is Austin i just start learnin parkour. I am a student in highschool so only go out weekends. I live on the West side. My fav spots is The hotel parking lots along ka'anapali and the wharf. The roof top is pretty fun. I like workin with railings mostly, but I;m learning to land better. I have tried a front flip off a 5ft wall and stalled it too long, landin on my ass. I do practice flips off Black Rock. Back/front. tried gainer. flying hawaiian (aka corkscrew) hand stand dive, ect. May try reverse gainer soon.
