I was wondering which shoes have the most traction, for wall and other climbing type runs? My eyes are on the ariake and the five-ten freerunning, Has anyone tried the five tens, if so how do they compare to other shoes. And also what are your reviews on the ariake (grip, durability, weight, etc.)

Let me rephrase my last post. So im set on eaither an Ariake or Ariake Lite mesh. What is the differences in traction (most important to me), weight, and durability. And for durability, how long with about an hour a day practice do you think before it wears down?

the traction is exactly the same.  8)

i think the life span for these shoes on average is about 6 months, maybe a little more.

I'm curious y'know how the men have the men's "ariakes" well the women have the Kluj's but they look like they literally have NO tread on the bottom, if anyone see's a pair let me know....I just think it's weird that the men's have good traction and the women's have like no traction (in photo's at least)

I've used a pair of Riddle shoes. Don't know what they're called, but really cheap ($20), great grip(soles have lots of rubber circles), downside is it's regular weight shoes and no shock absorption. But I remedied the non-shock aborption by buy a pair of shoe pads to put inside the shoes ($10). In the end, good deal.

I also have a chinese brand shoe by li-ning. Awesome looks, breatheable, hella light, and durable(still looks the same after 3 months even thought the top is holey and it's from china). Downside is it's lacking grip on some surfaces.

Does anybody have any experience with Asics Onitsuka Tigers for parkour? I've been wearing the shoes just for everyday stuff for like two years now, because I love them. Comfortable as hell, so light I can barely feel them, and they seem to have really decent grip.

I haven't had the chance to use them for any real parkour yet, though. Just wondering if anybody else has. Or if anybody even knows the shoes I'm talking about... o.o

The chick in Kill Bill wears them when she's wearing that yellow jumpsuit.. whichever volume that was.

I've been using my New Balance MT608BK Trailer Runners that I used when I ran cross country for my school.  They are running shoes so they are really light.  They are also pretty breathable and they have a good bit of padding.  the only problem is that after probably 3-4 months of parkour the threads in the front are starting to wear away  :(.  Other than that they've been pretty durable for me.

i know that everybody is going to disagree with me on this one, but i'm adament. skateshoes provide the most surface area, and have the softest rubber, so to me, they have the best grip.

this is what i use, and i have never lost my footing, or  had any problems with grip. :)

Hey guys. I'm Fresh into the PK scene and lookin for a good shoe to use. So far I've been practicing barefoot and such, And feel confident to step it up a notch.

Anyways; I've been doing a little research but so far to no avail. I'm looking for a good training/beginner shoe. But I do NOT want the "Designed for Parkour" type of shoe. That's nothing but a gimmick to me. I was thinking of something along the lines of a Dunlop Volley... Which I was originally going to get, but I can't find an Internet retailer that ships them outside of Australia...

Oh, and it might be an impossible request, But I don't want it to look ultra-flashy or anything. It was cool in middle school to have a sketchers-looking design on your shoe. Personally, I could care less~ :P

Also, On a side note: Has anyone ever tried a Merell Waterpro Maipo or Waterpro Ultra-sport? Those seem to be a little pricey, but seem Pretty durable and all-around okay. I know, Contradicting my Anti-Flashiness but, So far, I seem to be leaning towards what the Aussies have to say about Parkour shoes...

EDIT:// Any word on Kalenji's? Read those are good too, but no specifics on what brand etc.

Has anybody had any experience with the Nike Free series shoes for PK/freerunning?

EDIT: Sorry the Nike Training Frees, not the running ones.

Is there any kind of cheap shoes that you can just pick up at DSW or something, some kind of cross training shoe that proves effective for novice training, because i don't want to invest too much for something that i don't really need until i can do the more demanding tricks.

1.) The shoe should be hella' durable. We obviously abuse our shoes a lot, so they have to be designed to take a bit of punishment

What about the thinner shoes, like Puma stuff? I'm thinking of picking up a pair of Nike Air Rifts. I like the separate toe style.
