Perfectly fine. A lot of us train barefoot/VFFs regularly. Just listen to your body and be careful.

There are better shoes out there than Ariakes, for much less money too. Ariakes don't last long and in my opinion are way too heavy and padded.

Online it's pretty easy to get them for around $100AU (not sure about American dollar), which is much better than $180AU like they charge in stores. They last a really really long time, are light weight and have just the right amount of grip. The straps on them are shocking and will break all over, meaning you'll have to keep tie them up over and over again which can be a little annoying, but they are still worth the money. Personally I find the heels just a tiny bit too thick, and that caused me to get shin splints when I first trained in them but I cut a few MMs off the heel and the problem went away. They also felt even lighter too which was a bonus. I don't know of anyone else having the same shin splint problem with this shoe though, so wouldn't worry about it.

Read through this and decided to go with some Feiyue's to start out. For the price it can't be beat, and as a beginner there is no point in blowing $100 on something right out the gate. Thanks all =D

I think the same way you do. I have a pair of KSOs
Once I start doing things that are more abusive on the footwear I might pick up a pair of 5.10 Daescents and just use the VFFs for everything but parkour. A lot of people say VFFs aren't cost effective for parkour bc of the high price and low durability. I love them though and I plan to use them to pieces and go back for seconds.

Low durability?! I've had my VFF KSO's for a year and they've withstood quite a bit of punishment. I've had a couple of rips, but nothing that 15 minutes with a needle and thread didn't fix, and the soles are doing great.
I wear them everywhere - except for those times when I'm barefoot, of course...

Really? I've heard people say they only last a few months at best. Maybe they just didn't try to repair them. I've yet to rip my pair but I can't imagine a rip being a big prob.

Which shoes you have is overstated.
Just wear shoes, wearing no shoes does no one any justice.
Unless you really like clammy, dirty feet.

Well wearing no shoes will help toughen up your feet, but i guess it won't do your ankles any good. I personally recommend shoes.

Going barefoot is a way of forced technique correction. When you land, for example, you should land on the balls of your foot, because that's the best way for your joints to handle it. If you land on your heel, that's bad.

So when you go barefoot, next time you land on your heel, it will hurt like hell, forcing you to go back to the correct method. That training extends to everything; precisions, running technique (running with padded shoes are bad for your feet). Lighter feet = better performance.

I just picked up a pair of Vibram Five Fingers KSOs from Intracoastal Outfitters. I've heard they're good for parkour, but let me just say they're worth the money just to wear them (to me at least). It's like having a new pair of feet.

Right now im wearing some sparco racing shoes cuz they are flat and have ok grip and are extremely light. But they have 0 cushion and my balls of my feet are hurting really bad. My kswiss ariake come in wednesday. Will there be a huge difference between these and the ariakes?
