A JUMPING INJURY ANY IDEAS?
« on: June 16, 2009, 06:36:31 PM »
there was a pop when i extended my right leg to jump of a surface. A sharp pain surged through it then the pain started to spread to my upper calf and lower hamstring. The pop in my knee was in the direct center/middle. I couldn't walk on it and i couldn't straighten it out. Then i didn't go to the doctors so it's been about a month and i can walk, jump, do most parkour but the sides of my knee hurt when i do a tic tac for example. ANY IDEAS? It's not torn but is it any of these:
- hyperextended knee
- pulled MCL or LCL

this is better in the injury forum.  But...

it could be a problem.  you may have actually destroyed your acl/pcl actually.  or any other knee structure.  If you went to a doc, they'd probably recommend a MRI, or just therapy for conservative measures.  regardless I would recommend the following:

See a chiro--comply with any imaging he/she requests (likely)
Work with a PT to stabilize and train the joint for stability and recovery.

Knees are one of the most frequently injured joints... you gotta take care of it, or basically lose your mobility toward the later parts of life--you don't want that.

Good luck.
