Hey, I live in maurice (the little village south of laf down 167)
I use alot of the laf parks to train, though for privacy i like to go to the maurice park and do a little bit of stuf there cause no one ever goes there.

I've been training hard in Lafayette with my brother in law. We usually start off at Red's obstacle course or Heyman park for some warmup then head to ULL campus or Bourgeois Hall by the Cajun Dome. Hey guys, I've been looking to get back into the parkour scene for quite a while now, I used to jam with the guys from HPK (Houston PK from TXPK). We used to jam on a weekly basis for a while and had a blast, but then I moved 8hrs away for college and havent done much PK since then. Now im in Lafayette for the summer for an internship that I have down here. So i thought i would look for a scene, and i stumbled upon you guys. I pretty much know nothing of the area, but am still learning it, so I haven't really found any good spots to have fun on. Im in south lafayette if anyone wants to get together sometime, let me know and ill do my best to meet you guys wherever. Pretty much, i would love to pk with anyone possible, and i also have a friend in the area that would like to get into it all with me, but he would be starting from scratch, but i can teach him the basics pretty easily, but i would like for more people to be there for him, ya know, the more the better

Well, i really like the area by the UL college. also i havent asked, but the new library they put in south laf on johnson st/hwy 167 looks like a real good spot.

Skyfi, Ajx and I and one of his friends may be getting together this Saturday to do some training. You are welcome to join, but, I gotta be honest, inviting a 16 year old girl to do anything over the internet makes me really nervous. I don't want Chris Hanson from "to catch a predator" showing up in my house and telling me to "have a seat over there"

AH, i love to, but unfortunately me and my fam are going outa town this weekend

but im going to jackson mississippi and im hopeing to find some real good spots near the hotel. unfortunately, my parents didnt get a cheap hotel so the stairs are on the inside of the building, so no vaulting over the rails and hoping down. But were going to be on the fifth floor, so ill think of something...

Oh yes that new library does look nice....I would imagine a person jumping all over their brand new facility would get kicked off in an instant though......

The obstacle course at Red's is one of my favorite spots for training. It is in the back of the parking lot, you don't need a membership or anything.

Another place I've been wanting to go is that big triangle building (we called it the Met life building when we used to skateboard there) kinda behind Walmart on the corner of Pinhook and Verot. It is a really big white building with dark glass. Stairs, rails, and walls but I'm hesitant to go during business hours even though we were never kicked off when we used to skateboard there.

We have only been kicked off of ULL campus once and the lady campus police officer was pretty nice about it, just didn't want us suing the school.

Ah, oh well, maybe the next weekend then, I usually go out every Sat unless it is raining or something comes up. I try to go on Sun if I can't make it on Sat.

WOW were is reds? ive never heard of it. dang, it sucks..im relying onmy mom to drive me to spots

cause i cant get my license yet till my 6 months are up...(next month).but thankfully shes cool with it.
there are some spots near downtown that are pretty sweet. there is this building near the cafe that is almost like a ladder to the top, its real fun to climb. there ok with it, as long as not alot of people are around.

What cafe downtown?

I forgot, i think its by the starbucks...im gona have to re-check it out. i have been in downtown in a little while. (a month....)

Hey, do you have to be a member to use red's obstacle course?
I know you said that you dont need a membership, but isnt that part of there facility?

I've never asked, but it is way in the back of the parking lot with no sort of fence or gate of any kind. There is no signage saying you need to be a member. It is wide open. I've been there probably 30 times and have never even seen a Red's employee. In fact there is hardly anyone there period.

If you do need to be a member they have made no effort to let me know

You mean Red's?? I went on Saturday, it is really no big deal, they really don't care, actually the place has lots of trash there, looks like they don't care enough to clean it even. I plan on going soon with some bags to clean it up as part of the "Leave no trace" initiative.

But let me know what they say if you call....it won't change me going there but I'd like to know what they say.
