Red Rocks Jam...With a new twist!
« on: June 25, 2006, 06:37:33 PM »
I want to hold a jam at red rocks. But this jam would take place on the natural part of red rocks. The rock parkour there is absolutely incredible, and I am the only one that has seen 75% of it. For those of you who were at the tempest jam and have been on the rocks before, trust me, there is a ton more you havent seen. I want everyone to experience more of the great natural parkour we have here in Colorado.

Here is another twist. Thanks to Faelcind of Washington Parkour for the original idea he posted. Everyone will be equipped with a trash bag and we will all help clean up the back country at red rocks. There is a lot of crap back there which is a shame because its so scenic. Also, some of the best jumps have landings covered in glass. Trash + parkour = bad. So this would be a good way to do something good while doing the activity we love. We would be helping clean up the trash and you could even count it as community service or something. Also, in order to get all the trash, it actually requires some climbing/parkour because some of that stuff is pretty hard to reach. The trash bags will only hinder us slightly, we can still do all the parkour we want. I can contact the red rocks administration to let them know who we are and what we are doing so that will earn parkour some brownie points with the officials as well.

Let me know what you guys think of this idea. Id like to hold it relatively soon!

Yeah ryan thats definitely a good idea.  I have summer school on monday-friday from 7:30-12:30 but I doubt we would be starting before then anyway.  It would be more likely for me to come if it was during a week day because I would be able to take the bus.  Unless other people from boulder could give me a ride.  Maybe we could work something out.  Well just tell me when

I love this idea!  July is pretty busy for me, so don't break your backs to plan around my schedule.  I'm available during the days, nights I'm generally working.  Here's where I'm available (during the days):
July Mon 10- Thur 14 exepct Thurs Jul 13th
July Sat 22 - Sun 23
July Sat 29
July Sun 30th, but would need to be done by 1pm :(
July Mon 31th - August 21th is fairly open during the days, of course evenings and nights aren't great.

Dano!

ive been talking with Red Rocks authorities to try to get permission to be on the rocks and stuff....you know, since there is that whole $999 fine or 180 days in jail threat. I wasnt too optomistic about getting the permission to do this but I have been surprised and it looks like they will probably allow us to go off on our own and do what we want while cleaning up some trash.

the guy ive been talking to suggested july 29. who would attend if it was that day?

I think that's far enough in advance to work just fine for me

as long as no emergencies pop up in between now and then

If you aren't willing to give everything you have, dont bother showing up.

they stopped answering me. i think we will just have to do it some other time on our own. who cares about permission, if they see us (which they wont), we will just say we are hikers. their climbing on the rocks threats are really a complete joke.
