You know what I love about Parkour?
« on: May 14, 2009, 08:04:05 AM »
I've never done anything with my life that provided such immediate and worthwhile results.  You feel the training take effect very quickly.  Comparing me now to six months ago would be like night and day.  I also have a general better feeling about myself now.

Anybody else have reasons to add why they just love Parkour?
I decided not to put something deep here.  I'm in this for the physical aspect, the mental and spiritual are my own.

You see opportunities everywhere.
You shouldn't try to do multiple experiments to calculate linear vertical acceleration over large distances.

I love how it's not a "sport" in the general sense. When you think of sports, you automatically think of competition, but that is not the case in Parkour. It's all about self-improvement, no one is judging you, you're doing this absolutely for yourself. It's great.

+1 There's also no trash talk between "real" traceurs. I don't like all that "I'd stomp you. You suck. Look at this guy! He sucks!" crap.

It also has improved me in pretty much everyway I can think of.

;D My first applauds. Thanks guys

Also, parkour serves as a nice way to get fit. Before I was introduced to it, I was in pretty bad shape, but as I got really interested, I learned that you need alot of strength to climb up walls and things like that, so I conditioned a ton and, I gotta say, it feels good.

It provides freedom in a technology bound and time based world.
Why run from the future and live in the past when you can embrace tomorrow and learn from yesterday?

So true, what you said reminds me of the "Concrete Jungle" article in the Learn section, It's something that helps you escape the restrictions of the modern society we live in.
For me I find that also it's mental freedom, your mind is just silently focused on feeling your movements through the environment, instead of thinking about the negatives I experience in other aspects of my life.
