AZ Gyms??
« on: May 07, 2009, 04:10:55 PM »
Ok so my brother introduced me to Parkour about... six months ago. I have never trained for it or anything... I just vault and jump and stuff on playgrounds and the occasional WOAH SICK RAIL!!!! (You know what I mean). No flips or anything.

Just recently, my brother was trying to learn a front flip and said "I need like a big padded gym."

So we talked about it and his friend told him that YMCAs have padded gyms and cost like 5 bucks to get in... So I tried researching more info but failed learning if they had free run-appropriate gyms.

Basically like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1cS8sf_O780

ANYWAYS. During school I think and think about how AWESOME it would be to have a decent sized, padded (as in those like 6 inch think blue pads all over the floor... Probably permanent ones) gym, with movable padded blocks that are sized for vaulting and jumping off of, and a FOAM PIT.
The foam pit excites me the most. Are there any gyms like this in Arizona? I live in Chandler and was wondering if anyone knows if there are gyms like that here that I can get into for a fee or free?? It sound so fun  :D

My friend also told me about a place called SportsTech in Mesa or somethin but I can't find anything on that either....

Please tell me if you know of anything like this in my area, foam pit or not. :-\

I go to open gym there every friday night too... I don't think I've seen anyone else interested in parkour/freerunning there though. Do you still go? Me and some of my friends still go every week.

You might know us from our gymnastics or skateboard programs, but we just added a new Parkour course. We offer classes, camps and open sessions. Open sessions are great for practicing parkour, to have use of the parkour course- gym - trampolines- foampits.  http://kidsthatrip.com/parkour
