Grad students seeking your help on parkour survey
« on: May 03, 2009, 02:01:45 PM »
We are a group of graduate students studying parkour and free running for a research project. We've learned that there are a lot of large online communities dedicated to these activities. If you have a few free minutes, please take an anonymous, six-question survey to help us understand the ways these communities differ from each other and the aspects of parkour and free running that are most important to you.

We are very grateful for your insights, and thank you in advance for your help.

in my opinion, a survey you wont get much out of. 3-9, i havnt heard of them, why are the requiring me to say something else about it?

that survey doesnt really help define parkour or freerunning. its basically about how many online parkour communities you visit. maybe ask the creator of that other survey that was recently published here to give you the results? that should help a lot.
It's not about showing off. It's about movement and passion and freedom. It's about giving yourself the ability to reach farther and higher, to go anywhere you please. It's about living without boundaries.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. The survey is still open, so please feel free to take it. Garrett and MetalPanda, the reason we required answers is because we think the fact that you might not have heard of those groups is just as valuable as your thoughts about them if you had heard of them.

berky93: We've done a ton of other research leading up to this point to find out directly from participants what parkour is (and, for that matter, what free running is--and the differences between them). This survey is just one small (though important) part of the larger project.

Again, thank you for taking your time to complete this for us.

You misunderstood MetalPanda and Garrett.  They gave an answer.  The answer was that haven't heard of these sites.  The survey does not accept that answer.  It requires you to check off another box.  I encountered the same problem.  When I checked that I hadn't heard of a site, it came back saying that it requires an answer, even though I gave my answer.  So to complete the survey I had to go check out the sites and then give different answers.

Sorry, but it doesn't seem like you conducted very thorough research.  Maybe a box with like "helpful community resource"  "great learning tool"  "good way to get in contact with local traceurs"  It seems like you just googled for some parkour sites and then made some broad umbrella questions.

Same problem.  The survey won't go through if you select "never heard of it."  May I ask what your thesis for this project is?
