MEMORIAL WEEKEND JAM - STORM the FORT!!!
« on: April 29, 2009, 09:58:49 AM »
At least for all who will come to Fort Collins  ;)

In previous years there have been Big Jams on Memorial Day weekend in Fort Collins. In previous years we've gone to multiple spots all through out the day. In previous years we have had cool chase scenarios, created to apply what you learn in Parkour to a "real life" situation.

I don't yet have the details lined out but I expect to make this year's Memorial Day Jam Even Cooler!

Post here if you'd be interested.

To the Fort Collins Crew, Show up this Saturday to Jam so we can Work on some of the details  :D

Great To See there is Interest! So here is Info, thus standing, for the Memorial Day Jam '09 in Fort Collins, Co.

What: MEMORIAL WEEKEND JAM - STORM the FORT 2009!!!

When:
Saturday 23rd May @ Noon. Some of Us will be there by 11.30a.

Starting Where: Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Co, meeting @ the Lory Student Center & Bus Depot.

Who: Every Traceur You Know Should Come!

What's Happening: Starting with a Good Warm-Up, Continuing with a Great Parkour Jam through out the Day. Also, We will be featuring a Parkour Game or 2. The Main Game you should know about before hand so you have time to prepare; so here it is:

Parkour Relay: This is a Relay race designed for teams of 4. The Relay is to be set over a specific & limited area filled with unique obstacles. The "Baton" is a light-weight backpack that must be passed off. Just like in a Traditional Relay, The Baton Must NOT be Dropped & it may not be passed to a teammate by throwing it. Unlike a Traditional Relay, a runner must perform 3 parkour-type movements in their sprint. Any Runner who does not disqualifies their team. This is for 4-person teams so get with you Traceur Buddies & start practicing!

What is meant by Parkour-Type Movements: Running & jumping is a part of Parkour but
that is basic, required, & doesn't count. What I am refering to is Vaults, Underbars, Rail to
Rail Percisions, QM & maybe even Rolls. General Stuff like that.

Purpose: to Practically apply Parkour skills, Work on Flow in motion, Teamwork, & have
a lot of Fun! More on this Game Soon!

Directions: I-25 to Fort Collins (North bound if from Denver, South bound if from Wyoming)

Take the Mulberry Exit in (3rd exit in if from Denver).Travel West on Mulberry (toward the Mountains) till you hit College Ave (approximately 4-5 miles ish?)

Turn Left onto College (South) till Laurel St. Turn Right, West (Toward the Mountains).

Turn Left, South, onto Meldrum, Continue into Parking lot and head To the South West Corner by the Bus Depot. You Should see at least me if not other Traceurs too. See You @ STORM the FORT!!!

So a Jam Update . . .

Everything is a go! Bring Lots of People!!! ;D

A Note on the Relay: I will be flexible with the "NO dropping the Batton". In real life, a Traceur may have to set a backpack down for a second to get around a particular obstacle. Generally the idea is to keep the Batton moving. However, ONLY hand-offs to team-mates with the batton. NO THROWING IT!

See Everybody this Saturday!!!
