PKNY is fast approaching and I just want to let everyone know that I'll be doing my best to make this years bigger and better than ever. PKNY is NY's big jam every year so I hope to have as many of you guys out there showing everybody what NY is all about. If you have any suggestions or comments or ideas please feel free to chime in. Any and all help is appreciated!!
Transportation
I encourage those of you who plan to be flying or taking another extensive form of transportation to come early, snag some prime real estate on the floor or a couch, hang out and train. Coming earlier and leaving later also heightens the chance of us being able to get someone to help you getting to and from the airport or the train/bus station. I tend to prefer JFK or EWR over LGA only because they are more connected to the metro system and easier to give directions from.
All of the spots we will be going to will be accessible by public transportation, if you intend to drive here for the weekend then finding a good spot on my street would be in order, if you plan to just come for the day then it might be better to find a spot in Jersey City and meet us on our way in to cut some travel time. A 10 dollar metrocard should just about set you straight for the weekend along with a few tickets ($1.35) on the light rail system by my house.
Housing
As always anyone needing floor space is welcome and encouraged to find a spot in my house, I've got a few beds and couches and plenty of floor space. I'll also have a few tents set up in the back yard and you're welcome to bring your own as well. Food
The city has a ton of places you can get a good meal for ~$5 and it's never too hard to find a fruit stand for a quick snack. There is a supermarket just down the block from where I live where you would be able to pick up all the staples.
Itinerary
Friday
BBQ and Opening Jam Celebrations will be at my house (110 Harrison Street, Bloomfield, NJ, 07003) on Friday from 3pm onwards. There will be people able to lead back from WTC and Newark Penn, if you are unsure how to get to my house with public transportation, meeting up with one of these groups would be a good idea. Also feel free to PM me and I can get you my number.
If you're planning on coming, you'll have the opportunity to buy a t-shirt or two (they'll be plenty to choose from!). Proceeds from the sales will go toward offsetting the food cost. I've got a pretty sweet set up to mess around on, and will be adding to it before the jam. We'll definitely be keeping the grill hot and the games going into the night.
Saturday
Meetup will be at 10:30 at Heckscher Playground, you can get there by taking the train to Columbus Circle and walking Northwest into the park. If you see a giant rock near a couple baseball fields and a castle like playground you are in the right spot. There should be people all around by that time but the wooden fence behind the rock is the official meetup spot. Also feel free to PM me and I can get you my number.
From my house the early group will be out of the door at 8 so that we can get some training at Heckscher. The later group will be leaving at 9.
At 11:00 we will be splitting into groups to go to different spots in and around the park. Try to be with the large group by the time this happens, because the smaller groups will be harder to track down. Each group will be training for a few hours, grabbing lunch if people are hungry, and then will head down to the Brooklyn Banks.
We should be at the Brooklyn banks sometime between 3:00 and 4:00. It's directly under the Brooklyn Bridge on the Manhattan side.
From there we will head back to my house for another BBQ and a fire, talk about the day, and maybe cap the night off with some light conditioning.
Sunday
We'll be heading out of the house around 10-11 and deciding where we want to jam near my house. If you plan on coming to this but are not staying at my house we should be clearing up the details shortly. Also feel free to PM me and I can get you my number.
