Cardio endurance help
« on: April 20, 2009, 07:32:00 PM »
My endurance sucks. So I want to improve it. Also, I am kinda chubby. :/

So I was going to do 2 miles in 16 min, but that wasn't gonna work.........any tips on improving it?
Wednesday I think I'm gonna do a 2 miler in 20 min, then work up to a 3 miler in 30 min.

Any thoughts, criticism, or tips?

why start w/ 2 miles?

i'd recommend 1 mile at first. build up until you can bust that out no prob, then do 2 and bust it out till you can do it no prob, then 3 ect ect.

orrrr... find a treadmill and use it. or an elliptical

i can run 2 miles in 20 min, but thats just from me pushing myself. i have this game i play when im running on the elliptical, cuz i can see how many minutes have gone by, and what % ive run, so i try to keep it with the % about the same of the time. unless im trying to get 2 miles in less time. then i aim for the percentage being higher.

1 min = 10% of 1 mile
all the way up to
20 min. = 200% or finish/2 miles

make sense?

thats what helps me.
also, watch your heart rate. you dont want that going up too high, but you dont want it to be too low either.
im sure others are going to find this and give you much better info than i can

best of luck!

4x400m intervals... 5 mins rest between them. Intervals will be 85-90% for the first 300m, then sprint the last 100m.

As you get better, reduce the rest OR add some intervals.
