(B)East Coast Jam 2009 - Washington DC, May 23 - 24
« on: April 13, 2009, 10:32:21 AM »
As always, im late getting this information out to you guys.... But I am officially announcing this year's installment of Skipper's (B)East Coast Jam!
Unlike past years where everyone had to find a place to stay, someone to drive them, and directions from the airport, this year we will be hosting EVERYONE at DC's own Primal Fitness. Room for everyone, and one whole shower to share :)
The festivities start Saturday morning around 11 or noon for the traditional cookout, some sweet gym training in the process, and a fancy DC neighborhood session that evening. We can even venture out on the metro to some more training grounds if we get antsy.
The next morning (sunday, 24th) we will wake up nice and early to hit up Rosslyn and Georgetown at 10am for an all day session.

Monday is memorial day, I plan on spending it with my family, I encourage you to do the same :)

If you have any problems with transportation or directions, please call me at 703-946-4552

Official Itinerary:

ARRIVE:
Saturday, May 23rd before noon.
For Flyers, I suggest going to Regan National Airport (DCA) because it has metro access
Dulles (IAD) is about 30 miles away and will ruin everyone's day if you make them come get you.
Once landed, make your way to the Metro station at the airport and take the Yellow line towards Georgia AVE, and get off at the Mt. Vernon Sq. stop. From there, just walk East on M Street for 4 blocks until you reach New York Ave. Primal Fitness will be on your right at that intersection (Big firehouse with big red doors, google it).
For drivers, either google 219 M St. NW Washington DC 20001, or type it into your GPS, whichever your version of the 21st century allows you to do.

12PM - 3PM - Cookout at the gym followed by some in-gym training. Once everyone is tired, we will do some out door training! There are tons of great spots around the gym, so that will keep us busy all night.

UPDATE! - Saturday night, There will be the First Annual Skipper's (B)East Coast Film Festival. Everyone in attendance will have their chance to premier their newest videos on a big screen in front of a LIVE AUDIENCE! Everyone is encouraged to film, edit and produce a BRAND NEW video to show at the film festival. Brand new?? Yes, that means DO NOT upload it to youtube, vimeo, etc prior to the film festival, we dont want to ruin the surprise of a new video!
Please Take your time filming and editing so the video will be as solid and clean as possible. Explore new editing techniques, land some new tricks, conquer some new training grounds, do anything you need to do to make it a sick video!!! I dont care what your skill level is, this is about bonding and really making a great video. Too many people these days dont pay enough attention to the editing, so this is your chance to show the world what you can do with a little patience and production quality! this will be SO much fun!!

Sunday, May 24th. Wake up, eat, shower, do what you need to do to be at the Rosslyn Metro station at 10AM. We will run around Rosslyn for a while before making our way to Gateway Park (right at the end of the Key Bridge). We train there until we cant possibly think of anything else to do, then we will jog across the Key Bridge to the Georgetown University Campus where we will spend the remainder of the day.

There are plenty of places to eat in G-Town, so thats not an issue, just make sure you bring some money for meals. And maybe some extra dough to chip in for the cookout.

This is a mandatory jam for everyone who has just read this, so now you are bound legally to attend. See you there!!!!

UPDATES: Just to clear things up, everyone is encouraged to stay at the gym. There is plenty of space for people to crash, so bring a sleeping bag and you are set! But....
If you are planning on staying at the gym, you MUST sign a Primal Fitness waiver and send it to me at Skipper@americanparkour.com for you to reserve your spot. No waiver, no spot. If you are under 18, you must get your parent or guardian to sign it and sent it to me BEFORE YOU ARRIVE, please dont come to the gym without a waiver and a parent, then you cannot stay at the gym because theres no way to get it signed!
Again, you may not stay at the gym unless you have sent me a waiver in advance.
If you are over 18 Sign this waiver -> http://www.primal-fitness.com/waiver/Parkour_Primal_Fitness_Waiver.pdf
if you are under 18, sign this waiver -> http://www.primal-fitness.com/waiver/Parkour_Minor_Primal_Fitness_Waiver.pdf

I am going to do everything in my power to make it to this, which is pretty much asking my parents if I can go and then finding a ride from Pittsburgh.
If I can't speed vault it I can monkey vault it.
If I can't monkey vault it I can kong it.
If I can't kong it I can kash it.
If I can't kash it I can climb it.
If I can't climb it there's another way around it.

After the awesome experience last year, I'll definitely be going to this again this year.  I'm going to call off a few extra days this year though so I don't have to make a 12 hour drive in one day after a weekend of jamming (Did that last year... bad idea...).  So I'll probably stop somewhere in Ohio on the way there and back since that's almost exactly the middle point.
