my legs. i have been doing parkour for about a week and a half and i was training with a friend practicing and exercising. and the next day when i woke up i could barely walk up my stairs. well i would like to know ways to prevent this in the future so i can prevent muscle soreness. Any help is appreciated

possibly.
if your just starting, it's just that fresh soreness. your body isn't used to this yet.
now maybe your landing wrong, or jumping off stuff toooo freakin high.
but it's most likely just that fresh soreness, it'll pass

people here actually suggest not doing big jumps. (like off a house)
now people do, but it messes your knees up.

so if you aren't doing large jumps or vaults, its just normal soreness.
how physically active were you before this?

first i took a long jog around town, then was doing rolls in the yard. fooling around on the trampoline, and lots of squats.

remember to stretch before and after training - although it doesnt seem conventional, parkour is the same as going to the gym. it exercises your body. and if you dont stretch, you get sore (well, more sore)
It's not about showing off. It's about movement and passion and freedom. It's about giving yourself the ability to reach farther and higher, to go anywhere you please. It's about living without boundaries.

Always take protein and glutamine (get it at GNC or a vitamin shop) within an hour after your workout. It will considerably reduce soreness.

after the first time i went out, i couldn't walk properly for a week. it's the simple fact that you're engaging muscles in ways you never did before. your body has to acclimate itself to the ways you want it to move.  once you can move again, any muscle soreness you get from exercising will be completely normal and go away after a day or so (at the very top end). like everyone else here, i suggest not taking any large drops yet, and focus on your body awareness.

Maybe your roll form is a bit off?  Could be twisting your knees a bit.

Sounds like shin splints; instead of pushing through it (which can lead to stress fractures and permanent damage), you should take it easy for about a week and let them heal. It'll heal back much stronger than before and it'll be unlikely you'll ever have them again, just give them time to heal. Use that week for upper body conditioning or something.

just like a thorough warm up and cool down with good free stretching. people should start doing things right, not looking for an easy way out.

my mind is constantly moving, one day my body will be strong enough to keep up.

Parkour entails completely different uses for the muscles you've developed through all your other activities.

If you aren't really sore in your muscles the first week (at least) you start doing parkour, you aren't doing it right.

If the soreness isn't muscle soreness (which is good) and it's more of a bone or joint pain, then you need to change how you're doing something and take some time off.
But for now just let it go
Don't run, don't rush
Just flow
