What is exactly the point of Dash's?!?
« on: April 02, 2009, 10:18:07 AM »
I understand how to do them(but i can't) and I'd just like to know how they help you flow seeing as how you jump over the object inorder to do one.

I'd just like to understand just cause this is the only movement that seems unnecessary(but still awesome).

Ahh. I think I get it it's like if something is too long to jump no handed like you'd need an extra push, right?

I find they transition fluidly into a cat pass when you chain the two vaults together. I also drill them dropping into a roll or a precision. They offer more control and work well to slow your momentum and spot your landings.

Agreed. Where you use a dash vault you can usually substitute a diving kong, but you won't get as much control. Whereas you can get more distance with a kong.

They are really nice, I've noticed, off of ledges with a 3-4 ft. drop (or any drop really) on the other side to roll out of them. They are very smooth to go into rolls. And they feel a lot better to me, especially since I drilled the hell out of them. My friend likes to them on railings a lot. It scares me though, seeing as my OTHER friend missed the bar with his hands =/
I always face north, therefore I have no guides other than my body and mind. By always facing north I am always moving forward and up, regardless of the obstacle in my path.

Do you ALWAYS have to give a smartass answer? Fact is, you use different vaults for different situations if you want to be pragmatic. And if you don't want to be practical, you diversify your vaults anyway.

dude chill, let people learn on their own. not everyone does every vault the same.

therefor how we use dashes might not be how HE uses dashes. its up to him to learn what to do where, not up to us to tell him.

btw its the internet, dont take everything so seriously, seriously...

and using big generalizations like "always" is a pretty stupid thing to do.

if i broke it down id say about 30% of my answers are smart ass answers, whats the harm in having fun? seriously, you take everything wayyyyyyyyy to seriously on these forums.

alot of the people on these forums do, its the internet, its a place to shit around and have fun.

You seem to take it pretty damn "seriously" when ever someone mixes up your definitions of parkour, and freerunning. Hypocrite much?

Dash in my experiences takes a lot less effort than other vaults (Cat pass, reverse, speed, lazy) and if done with correct technique can still give you a decent amount of power as well as it not being very hard on the joints.

Ahh. I think I get it it's like if something is too long to jump no handed like you'd need an extra push, right?
also it is used to find your landing when jumping of a ledge, balcony, or off any raised area to a lower area
