A National Jam is an opportunity to gather the active members of a community and a chance to invite people from around the country to come train in the spots you've grown to love. A National Jam should teach people how to properly condition, teach people to train respectful of training spots and of the people around them, give rules for dealing with authorities and media, and take the chance to have a large in face forum to discuss Parkour in general. Schedule as of 4/17/09: Beast Coast: May 22-25 Philadelphia: May 30 Midwest: June 12-14 New York: June 19-21 Texas: June 25-28 Pittsburgh: July 9-12 Chicago: July 17-19 Toronto: July 31-Aug 2nd Colorado: August 7-10 Washington: August 28-30 Michigan: September 25-27
National Jams 2009 See this spreadsheet for contact information of jam hosts and coordinators along with available housing and schedule information.
If you are hosting a National Jam please contact me at Jesse.PKNY(at)Gmail.com
Please feel free to use this thread to discuss national jams - dates pertaining, what you would like to see at them this year, what you liked and disliked about past national jams and most importantly how awesome national jams are.

Washington: August 28-30
Just to clarify, that one is Washington - The State. [Not Washington - The District.] For the District, see (B)East Coast Jam. It's only a 2,692 mile difference...

You should put the state and/or city the jam will be basically starting in, like instead of Beast, put Beast(Washington D.C.)

Don't know any more info yet on it, but Philadelphia is up, they've definitely got some great spots, I'm sure a bunch of us from NY will be going down.

Any idea if anything will be hosted in Ohio? I don't think I'd be able to (or want to) travel more than maybe an hour to hour-and-a-half from Lancaster. There's a group up on the Ohio State University campus, if that means anything to you. ( PKHZ)

They were thinking about putting on an event but I'm not sure if anything is final yet.

In Ohio we are still a bit up in the air whether we are doing anything for sure this Memorial Day weekend. There is a good possibility we may do something like we did last year with Parkour Generations, but I don't know if we have the funding secured yet for their airfare. We will put out an official announcement soon regarding this once it has been decided.

If you're planning on doing something like last year again, I'd suggest setting it for a weekend later in the summer. I don't know how many people would be able to make it with such short notice, and I'm sure a bunch would if it was like it was last year. I know I'd be up for it again, and if it's during one of the weekends in July that are open, my odds of going at least increase drastically.

So I'm definitely going to the (B)East Coast jam, but me and my friends have to be back home at 3 on sunday for my one friends graduation party. Maybe i'll go to the Philly one the next weekend. But I don't want to be super dead for my grad party which is the 31st. haha.

Status update for Ohio: We've decided not to have a big event during the Memorial Day weekend this year, but instead have opted to plan for something later on during the summer to give us more time to collect resources. We will be sure to put out a notification well in advance if we're going to do something big so that people have a chance to plan it out ahead of time if they want to participate. Until then, we'll be seeing you around
