A Parkour practicioner. The term was originally coined by the French Parkour practitioners, but was adopted as a general term to define all that practice the art.

sorry for the off topic comment but why do people capitalize the word parkour? it is not a proper noun as far as i am aware of. it is a french term derived from another word to describe an activity, or a noun. so shouldn't it be uncapitalized?

I think the fact that it is an art in and of itself makes it worth of capitalization.

well kung fu, yoga, skateboarding, ninjitsu, jazz, and photography are all art forms but they arent capitalized. what makes parkour any different?

Hmmm, depending on the usage they all can be capitalized, though. I would definitely capitalize Yoga, Jazz, Kung Fu and Ninjuitsu, maybe that's just me?

Hmmm, the American Heritage dictionary has Yoga both capitalized and non-capitalized. When used just as a word to explain the exercises, it is lower-case, but when it refers to the set of Hindu philosophical practices to atain enlightenment, it is capitalized. I guess that leaves it up to how you percieve Parkour. Is it just a set of movements in an urban enviroment, or is there more to it?

One who runs an whom nothing can hinder.

Oh, and Skip, I'm pretty sure it's only two syllables. However, everyone has their own little spin on it. I prefer "trah-soor."

between the SEE and the YOOR, i usually have a small distinctive stop. it CAN be 2 syllables, but the only way to explain that last part is to split it up in to SEE and YOOR, but you gotta say it fast and smooooooooth. thay way its only 2  ;D

I think of the word "entrepreneur":

http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=entrepreneur

The "eur" part is like in "Europe" or "traceur." It's not an-treh-preh-nee-oor.

Then again, is it really worth arguing about? Not at all.

Right, it has 2 sounds, the E and the UR. they are meshed into one syllable, but i was explaining it in 2 different sounds... to be then meshed into one syllable.

and ya, not worth arguing about. lol

It's not an argument when we are simply trying to pronounce a word correctly... I think it does matter to say it correctly so we have a common definition and pronunciation, shows respect and makes us look like we know what we are talkng about  :)

yeahh... anyway is tra-see-your pronounced the same as tra-sewer? except that could kind of be an insult...
