Born in the suburbs of Paris and having evolved from Military training techniques Parkour turns the urban jungle into a playground. Moving as quickly and efficiently on, thru, over and around anything and everything in one’s path. Walls, Stairs, cars, rooftop are all part of your course. Expanding from Parkour, Freerunning emphasizes the creativity and acrobatics of movement in the very same setting.

After your ticket request is submitted, members will receive an E-Ticket via email prior to the show. Check your email daily to see if your request for tickets was accepted. Simply print out your ticket and bring it with you to the show. Not a member yet? Sign up today, it’s easy and it’s Free. You must be a member to apply for tickets to this or any of our shows."

"You cannot be afraid of heights!" They should also add "Learn the background of parkour before you start!"

Seriously, a lot of the posers who sit all day and think their cool will try to do parkour and not understand it. Talk about too much publicity. :/

There are respectable traceurs involved with this, however they also happen to have a contract with mtv so who knows what direction this might go.

And before anyone asks, I have my sources 8) (the source that told me about this is either a squad of highly trained squirrels who give me a daily intelligence briefing or a founder of PKFR International, I can't remember)

You might want to look at the date.

If I can't monkey vault it I can kong it.
If I can't kong it I can kash it.
If I can't kash it I can climb it.
If I can't climb it there's another way around it.

Livewire, Danny, both Doyle brothers, Bobby, Jenx, and Pip were lined up. Phil was suppose to go but I think he had issues with being underage. I don't think Bobby went. I believe Daniel Arroyo and some of the Tempest guys are involved.

Just to throw this out there, Danny and the majority of the UK team are against competition. They knows what's best and will do everything is their power to represent what some of us practice. It was a competition in the beginning. I don't know what the group agreed on but I remember hearing that Danny talked with the MTV crew to portray parkour, freerunning, carpentry, whatever in the right light.

If there was anything that was going to be devastating to the movement, I know that 6/7 of the UK team wouldn't have a hand in it.

I want someone to get tickets and do parkour to show MTV and the general public that it doesn't matter how "good" you are. That anyone can do it. But the only problem here is that everyone who watches won't look into the history or philosphy and just go out and do what they think is parkour.
But some good will come out of this every couple of people who watch will actually take the time to learn and do parkour right.

I'm interested in this just because Daniel Ilabaca is involved. I don't really think this is much of a competition... I mean... the tryouts for American Ninja Warrior sound about the same as this. I just thought he was pretty much against spectacles such as this.

I just don't like MTV. I remember their martial arts show with Ernie Rayes Jr. It was alright, but it took a bunch of kids who had practiced their art for most of their lives and put them together to duke it out after challenges. Usually their movements and techniques seemed jumbled and flawed. Most times the penalties were numerous. I;m just not a fan of MTV, I guess. Although Rob & Big was awesome :P

problem i see with this is that most kids are going to be the newbs who don't learn and just do. then we end up with ex-skateboarder punks (nothing against skateboarders, just skateboarder punks) who watch mtv, and are going to go out and try to do all sorts of flips just to look cool for the chicks, causing havoc and being general nuisances. then there will be signs that say "no skating, walking dogs on grass, or parkour." it's actually a problem, no matter how much we turn a blind eye. that being said, there's not really a whole lot we can do to change the MTV execs minds, so let's hope enough people have lost faith in MTV to ignore it and not really watch.

Yeah as i was finishing up this i realized that exactly that will happen thats why i said the brief part about them not learning what real parkour is. :P
its just getting late and im pooped i trained for a while today lol ;D so i dont really care to type too much.

From the other thread about "Parkour in the X-Games..."

In case anybody still cares about this...

I don't know about the X-games, but it will be soon on MTV (as pure entertainment, in my understanding...).
If you feel like commenting closer to the source, you can do it here: http://community.mtv.com/Discussion%20Thread/Parkour-Is-NOT-a-competition/0D3FCFFFF01AC2B53000900B29E41
