A basic set of movements in Parkour where the traceur uses their arms and hands in concert with their legs (either through the run-up, the jump or by actually propelling themselves off the obstacle) to overcome a variety of different objects. It is closely related to the term as it is used in the gymnastics community, though vaults in Parkour tend to strive for absolute effeciency rather than added complexity.

Question...  I understand that vaults are used to get overwalls, railings etc., but how thick can this wall be?  Would It be a good idea to vault a wall that's two feet thick, or would you use some thing else?

(Sorry for my noobishness)

"Vault" is just a general term, there are tons (maybe hundreds) of different types of vaults.  All of them have specific areas that they were designed for.  This doesn't necessarily mean that you can only use one type of vault for a specific area, deciding what vault to use is part of the fun of parkour :).
