So is the ankle-cut non-split toe the "medium" version or is it just a variation of the "advanced" version? BTW, I would get the split-toe version myself.

Yeah, some heads on the generations site were saying they would prefer a non-split toe and a lower sock, so I just mocked it up quick to get more input on it. It's just a variation of the advanced version.

Haha, they are injection molded just like crocs. But crocs only look like doo do because they are Crocs! Check out the Puma Lift. This technology has the potential to look good when it's done right ;)

Final concept looks really nice. I've never been a fan of the NKPK logo but that's trivial. I'd love to see these shoes in production!

Lonnie: Not trivial at all. What don't you like about it? Is it to cartoony maybe? Logos are a bitch  :-\

That sock was bothering me. It was slowing it down. I decided to sprinkle in some of that Nike heritage from the old Huaraches/Bursts. Also made some adjustments to the tab, flex grooves and expansion cutaways.

I'd pay just to have a decent pair of shoes with all that grip in thee toes.

and after checking out pics of the puma lift you mentioned, I realized how much of an advantage you could get by injection molding. plus it looks cooler as one piece.

any ideas what you want the bottom of the shoe to look like? I don't remember seeing any concepts of that from you.

since theres no laces the only thing holding the shoe around your foot is that little strap at the top right?

i like the shoe to be snug around my whole foot, is this still going to do that?

Have you seen the Vibram Fivefingers? Fit won't be a problem.

I think cartoony is a good description. It's also a little complicated for a logo. I can see where you where going with it... a sort of asian or tribal lettering. I think less is more.

The last image with the cutaway sock looks awesome. Very clean and very stylish.

Ahh!! Why have I gone so long without finding the new thread!

Love the entire project, man. All good stuff. I, too, am interested in seeing the bottom of the shoe, but I have approved of everything else.

Eisenberg: I assume the straps force you to use a decent amount of pull to connect them, sort of like the ratcheting effect of some roller blade straps. More tension=better fit.

Am I right on that, TH?

Lonnie- yeah it was supposed to feel like a mix between graffiti and asian characters. Oh well.

Chris- the strap is very simple. You twist to undo the velcro, pull outward and refasten to keep tight.

There is a super simple/rough sketch of the bottom plate on the sketch page. It looks out of wack b/c it's a sketch, but it's a very simple flat rubber plate with anatomical flex (like free) grooves. There will also be a plugged logo to notate the experience level the shoe is intended for.

I'm still fiddling with the new sock shape and upper cut outs to get a nice balance between the profile and toe down views. Check it out. Sorry, the white sock looks like a$$. lol  :-\

oh I see the bottom drawing there. lol I was thinking about tread designs for a parkour shoe and I was thinking something like that would be particularly effective - the horizontal bars would help provide grip in the forward/backward direction, perfect for wallruns, jumping, and running.

Have you ever seen the shoe Prototype This? They make prototypes for future inventions. anyway, they were making a prototype for pads that let you climb buildings. They came up with a silicon pad with horizontal bars such as you see on the tread in your design, and the bars provided an enormous amount of grip on the surface (one 6-inch pad could hold 5 pounds on a window with only its own friction. it was pretty amazing)

and the same principal applies to the areas on the side of the shoes where the bars go lengthwise along the shoe, where your foot applies pressure.

anyway, I don't know if you thought about the sole in a technical sense or just sketched out a simple design for the sole, but either way I like it.

still eagerly awaiting seeing something like this shoe on the market. :)

Yeah come to think of it I'd be really interested in seeing a shot of the sole. That's one of the first places I check when buying a new shoe.
