I live in Iowa City and have always wanted to do this but never knew it had a fairly good following.

I'm just getting into this and would love a seasoned individual or group to hang out with and learn. So just doing a shout out to see if anyone is interested in showing me the ropes and do it together etc..

hey dude. there are a couple kids down in iowa city that do parkour but not as much as up here in cedar rapids. if you dont mind the commute, we are always practicing up here and you are welcome.

Iowa City should really organize a team. I live in Iowa City and want to get into parkour but i need to find some places to do it at. Plus a team to do it with. Anyone?

At the moment, I have transportation issues also. That'll be solved soon though. By soon I mean in the Spring or Summer. Anyway, does anyone know any good locations in Iowa City to do it alone?

Dont worry, we all decided that it may be just a little cold to go this weekend... obviously because of the snow lol.

but dont worry, hopefully next weekend if it is warm we will be going down there. I will put up a post if we do and when we do we will probably meet somewhere around on the Iowa Campus.

Honestly I would say downtown area, ped mall. I don't know how soon after the cops will come and start asking us questions as to WTF are we doing lol

But other then that, I'm just like you, totally new to this stuff.

we have about six guys with over 2 years of experience including myself and we would all really like to train with you two sometime. hopefully soon too! we are not professionals at the least but i believe we are well trained in technique and safety in both Parkour and Freerunning to help both you and anyone else interested.

also, we know a guy that works down at Iowa GymNest who has been doing parkour for about 3 or 4 years and he is teaching an "obstacle course" gymnastics session to smaller children... secretly prepping them for the world of parkour. lol. but if you guys want his number, he goes to school at iowa and would love to help you guys out some weekend.

Sounds great to me Joe. Keep us posted on your trip down to IC.

Also I'd be interested in getting in touch with this guy in IC. Does he teach gymnastics? I would like to get into the basics of that too, to go hand in hand with parkour and it's something I've always wanted to learn.

yeah he used to be a gymnast i believe. but he and a couple other guys he trains pk with came up here to cedar rapids for a jam once. it was alot of fun and he knows his stuff. really nice too. about 22 i think.

Actually, count me out for the parkour thing until after this next summer. Believe me, I'd love to learn and have fun with you guys, but something came up(surgery). Until then, I cant be too active
