Akh's Mega-Training Journal
« on: June 06, 2006, 04:57:31 AM »
Those 100 burpies killed me two days ago, did it in my bathing suit* so I could take a dip in the community pool immediately after which was hella nice. It was the first real good workout since I moved back home in Rockville after graduating college. I feel back in the swing of things now!

It must have been the burpies, but it had my lower back [latisimus dorsi?] hurting like 8 bitches in a bitch boat for 2 days. Luckily those were mostly rest / recoup days. It feels fine now.

Today is the muscle up workout, so I'm going to have to find a workable bar. I've been using door frames for pullups which also helps strengthen my fingers, and helps with grip [to some extent] on walls / 90 degree corners a la cat grabs. I've just noticed the other day, a couple of trees which might work for muscle ups as well as those dynamic arm drop things. However, the trees look pretty dead, brittle, and look like they might just snap off and blitz me in the head if I hang on them.

Training Goals for this summer :
Train to the max.
Get ripped like jesus.
Purchase a weight vest for training.
Increase my vertical and horizontal jump height / distance.

I think that's it for now!

Any idea how you're going to about increasing jumping distance? Thats one of my goals as well.
To answer your question, I plan on purchasing a weight vest and doing a lot of training with that on. It can only help :]

In recent news, I spoke with gear about my muscles feeling almost constantly tired with even the littlest bit of work. He helped me figure out a better diet, and that it might be attributed to me not getting enough protein for my muscles to rebuild / heal up. So I'm adjusting my diet as needed, and taking a couple rest days to recoup from this temporary rut.

Still keeping up with my 5:00 total inverted time of handstands a day, though!

Personal Goals otherwise
I will conquer this math class, I will excel in this math class. Despite it being my least favourite and most frustrating subject. Normally, I ain't do no maff, but this is something I need so I can get my degree that McDaniel screwed me out of. 8)
Job hunt at the moment is rough, I'll find something though so I can save up enough money to move out and get a place with my girlfriend, Kelly. :)
Just crossed my mind, once winter hits, I plan on taking full advantage of training in the different conditions it creates! I didn't this past winter.

What do you know about ankle weights?

Ankle weights can be quite bad for your lower-body as far as jumping/running is concerned as it screws with your natural gait. They ARE good for weighting movements like leg lifts or L-sits, but not many people need to make those any harder. Polecat, keep an eye out, I will have a jumping program up in the next few weeks, once I get a chance to go out and get some pics!

Been a while, pretty much just been doing the WoD's, regular parkour training as well. This past weekend was PKUSA! I did yesterday's [monday] workout, but it was more of a recoup day otherwise.

Began my new eventually increasing morning workout today which consisted of :

5 rounds of
5x Box Jumps
5x Pullups
10x Situps
5x Pushups

Each week or so I plan on increasing the reps for each excercise. Also perhaps doing the first half of the week "regular," and the second half of the week with my weight vest [currently at 10lbs]. That's about it! I just finished my morning routine, I'm about to eat breakfast and then do the regular WoD!
