What is the purpose of a tic tac?

a tic tac is mean for clearing something next to a wall that you dont feel like vaulting.

TECHNICALLY a tic tac is just used to change momentum with the use of a wall (wall running, tic tacing off the wall over a ledge, ect).

my mind is constantly moving, one day my body will be strong enough to keep up.

It helps you attain more height than you normally would in a jump. This is useful, because it allows you to reach or cross over things in a more efficient manner. For example, you have a wall. Perpendicular to the wall, there is a fence about up to your head. Normally, you would have to jump and pull yourself over the fence, which would take 5 or 6 seconds (depends on skill level). Now, if you incorporated the tic-tac, you would be able to get enough height over the fence that it would be possible to do a lazy or speed vault over, significantly reducing the time it takes, and increasing your "flow".

I use a tic tac to clear a wall without even touching it which I would normally be forced to use a monkey on.

I would most likly use to get over a busted up rail, or something else that you really couldn't vault well.

Like a person or small child.

The examples are limitless, but a tic tac is kicking against a wall to divert your momentum in another direction, usually upward or outward. If you've ever tried going on a 100% full speed parkour run, the tools that allow you to smoothly change direction or momentum are your best friend. Tic tac is one of those.

What does that mean? What does it mean to accomplish a particular movement?

My bad, I meant to press more questions on the question and some of the answers. Is a movement accomplished? There's a big difference between getting something down versus accomplishing it which can go back to the question of what the purpose of it is. A movement isn't something to be picked up and "thrown in a bag"; it's something to be refined over and over and over again. For example, some people answered that tacs are used to clear particular objects, up or down flights of stairs, etc. Once you bind the movement to specific obstacles, it's no longer something that can be used naturally in some cases in which it's called for.

sorry to somewhat resurrect this topic but, isn't a tic-tac when you kick off of anything to change momentum? like anything as in boxes or railings or walls or trees... whatever is there to get you going the way you need to be going instead of the way that you are going

At first I thought tic tac is completely useless.  I mean what's the point of running to a wall, kick it and then bounce back.  However, lately I found some useful cool moves with tic tac.  For example, if the wall is too far for a straight cat leap and there is a wall or a rail near by, I could do a tic tac to cat leap - same idea with tic tac down or up the stairs.  It makes a powerful move.  Tic tac to precision and tic tac to vault are also cool.

Tic Tacs are for overcoming a wall that you would most likely lazy vault. You cannot do a proper tic tac without an angled approach. but can also be used(if your a moderate to advanced in the technique) to pass fences, higher walls, or combine a tic tac with a reverse safty to pass a wall that is at an angle =] (learned the idea from Tyson Cecka)

This is what I love about PK...  No move is useless... if you put your mind to it, every move has a purpose in SOME situation...  Like, even front flips can be Parkour... (Clearing a tall fence with a drop off or too far to dive roll, a dive into tuck front flip would be perfect to clear the fence and keep going or set you up for a standing roll)
