What Should I Wear? Answered.
« on: March 01, 2009, 08:59:43 PM »
It seems Ive been seeing a whole lot of topics about things to wear while training, so I wanted to make one to cover them all. One topic to guide them... one topic to... okay thats enough of that.

Anyways.

Headgear
Not too much, really. A headband can be nice to wear, or somtimes a hat to keep the sun out of your eyes.

Shirt
T-shirts are great, you probably want to stay away from things which restrict your arm movement, else you could tear your shirt.

Hands/Wrists
Gloves? No. Generally speaking, you should stay away from gloves. You will have better grip with your bare hands than any glove I have ever found. Also, your hands will callus and you wont have to worry about them getting torn up. Practice a little Callus Maintenance every once in a while, you will be fine (Soak your hands in warm water for a few minutes, then scrap the raised white skin off with a dull blade. Stop when it quits coming up. Pumice stones are helpful for cleaning up afterward. )

In the wintertime, it's okay to find some gloves so that you dont freeze your hands off, but make sure you test your grip first.

Also, Wristbands are VERY nice to have, they prevent a condition known as "Emo Wrists".

Pants
I know a whole lot of traceurs who train in Jeans, (and heck, I used to be one of them), but basically anything that doesnt really restrict movement too much. Sweats work great, as they stretch. Jeans CAN work if they are loose enough... skinny jeans WILL tear and you WILL be laughed at.
Try the pants on. If you can do a lunge without tearing them, they will probably work.

Accessories
A small backpack is handy to carry your stuff in.
Also, water is an amazing thing.
