Fort Collins open gym at CSU gymnastics
« on: February 03, 2009, 09:36:55 PM »
Hey all,

One of my only gripes with FoCo when it came to Parkour was the decided lack of open gyms. I am griping no more though. I've been training at Mountain Center through CSU gymnastics lately, which holds an open gym every Tuesday and Thursday night from 8:30-10:00 PM. Here's the best part, its only $60 for the whole semester. Anyone whose dealt with gym fees knows how irritating they can be, this is a killer deal. The equipment is good, if a tad cramped (it can get a bit crowded sometimes too). But for the price, this is an ubelievable value. I think this could be a great chance for our community here to hook up a little more and become more unified. Plus, the president of the club told me that if we can get enough people together we can get a group discount to boot. I'm going to try to be there each session as much as I can, my Tae Kwon Do club meets Monday/Wednesday though, so there may be times when I'm a bit too beat up though. Hope some of you decide to take advantage of this, if you do, let me know if you'd like to meet up and train together. Peace.

- Chris

Two things I forgot to mention.

1) you can come in once for free to see if you like it.

2) directions: take College south past Prospect and make a left on stuart, the gym will be on your right a ways down the street, there's a big neon sign.

OMG! THANK you so much!  ;D ;D ;D ;D
I saw something about the mountain center, but then couldn't find out the other information about it.
now how to fit gym time into my schedule...hmmm...
but yeah, If I can actually get in there, I would love to train flips and the sort with anybody.
I just decided I need to work on my frontflip after doing one at karate and bruising my heel today.

BTW...do they have a foam pit?

We would love to see you there logan!  It's a great time in a safe(r) environment to work on the those bigger maneuvers.  I'm going to start works on my springs and flips here.  Also Chris was talking about how if we can get enough traceurs going we could possibly get a discount from the $60 a semester.

I agree with chris and bryan this place is big, safe and has tons of variety in it for new or experienced parkour practioners(spelling?). Also like they said the more we get the more of a discount we'll get. BTW me and bryan will be there every tuesday and most thursdays same with chris I think?? But more the better.

You can count on me at least once a week and usually two. Like Brian and Chris were saying, if we get enough of us together, Jenna the president will cut you a deal for 30 bucks for the semester. You really can't get any better.

Hey do they have any of those big 'ol wedges?  I was glancing around for one Tuesday night but didn't see one, it'd be awesome if they did so that I can start work on wallflips.

I didnt see any so I wouldnt know but we really didnt look for them either. But what I do know is that for wall flips you can use a wedge or you can just put a mat up against the wall to make the wall slanted thus making it easier to do a wall flip/palm spin

Just a reminder, that a good number of my new companions at the gym are needing to pay the semester fee, and we need a good number of us to show up to score the discount. So as many people as can make it Tuesday, please do, you'll be doing everyone a solid for sure. Hope to see everyone tomorrow! Peace.

Yes you can get the semester pass for thirty bucks but we need at least 6 people there on that night you pay. So usually its Chris E. Bryan B. and me. This tuesday bryan might bring 1 to 2 people so if he does then we can get you the discount, but if he doesnt you'll need to bring 1to 2 people that night. Oh btw I know 60 bucks seems steep (believe me I dont even have a job right now) but if you think about it, its really not. 60 buck to train twice a week for the next 3 months. So thats 8 nights a month for about 7.50 a night and each night is an hour and a half long. Thats not bad at all seeings how the gym in my hometown wanted over 100 bucks a month to practice one to two days a week. Just thought id put in my two cents. But whatever we can do to help just ask.

yo, just a heads up there is a good chance I won't be there tomorrow.  I have 2 tests on Tuesday, 1 Thursday, and 1 Friday and that's just this week so I need to use my freetime to study this week.

Good Chance I'll be there Thursday though.
