Need some advice
« on: January 21, 2009, 11:10:31 AM »
Okay I do not necessarily need actual help as to what to eat and so on. I need help or more like advice. Okay, so I don't eat breakfast but I'm trying to change this, the reason why I don't eat breakfast is because I feel sick afterwards. I usually get up around 6-6:30 am and I eat some oatmeal or something else and I feel like I want to throw it all up after I eat, but its like if I eat around 7:30-8 am I'm fine. I'm curious as to why this happens. Is it because I'm eating too early and my body can't take it or whats going on? And if this is in the wrong thread I don't mind if this is moved.

Do you wake up and go straight to eating? If you are I suggest you to brush your teeth and shower and all that good stuff first, probably wake your body up more (Kind of like what you said). Anyway I'm not too knowledgeable about the human body and all so I suggest you talk to Chris or Steve before taking my advice.

No, I usually stretch and take a shower and brush my teeth before I do anything. I will definitely try to talk to Chris or Steve before I do anything. But thank you Joeson. :)

Does the kind of food you eat affect the amount of nausea at all? Or do you get equally nauseous no matter what you eat?

Sometimes things that are really acidic (like orange juice or apple juice) or things that are really sugary (like Coco Puffs or even those premixed instant oatmeal packets) can make you feel sick if you're eating them on an empty stomach.
Just take the next step.A day without a challenge is a wasted day.

Hehe I tried... I think I'm going to try to learn more about the physiology, eating, and all the good stuff that Chris and Steve know so I can give well thought-out advice. Anyway good luck with your problem! I hope one of the Gods will come help you ;)

Why are you so interested in eating breakfast?

What does your typical diet look like?

What is the last time you usually eat before bed?

Is there anything else in the oatmeal aside from oats and water?

How old are you?  How much do you weigh?  How active are you?

You need to paint a picture of your lifestyle for me a bit more :)

Because if I don't eat breakfast I tend to eat alot of bad foods, such as sweets and so on before I eat lunch, it's like I constantly eat if I don't eat breakfast. Well my typical diet includes if I do eat breakfast, oatmeal, a fruit (such as a banana or apple), and either 2 glasses of milk or water. Lunch, I eat a turkey sandwich on wheat bread, a yogurt, some carrots and alot of water. Dinner, whatever mom makes which lately its been a whole lot of chicken and salad and a veggie (I plan on changing what I eat for breakfast and lunch for more of a variety). I drink a whole bunch of water during the day and I drink some tea. The last time I eat before bed is at dinner which is around 5:30-6 pm. I'm 18 and as of now I wear 154 lbs. I'm very active, I workout and train almost everyday except for my rest day which is on sunday, and on Monday and Thursday I run a mile and a half along with my training.

This helping at all? Anything else you need to know Chris?

No doubt -- do you smoke (cigarettes or otherwise) or drink often?

Your breakfast and lunch have dairy in them.  If you are suffering from sick feelings after eating, the first thing I tend to eliminate is dairy.  Dairy is a hotbutton food that can cause some pretty nasty feelings in some people and can creep up on you.  My first suggestion is to cut out all dairy and see if you feel the same thing.

Your lunch needs more protein - but that isn't going to cause the problem you are having.

Your dinner sounds great.

Is that really all you eat?  Sounds like you munch on sweets throughout the day regularly.

First suggestion is to cut out the dairy and eat a breakfast that is more well rounded -- source of protein, fat and carbs - right now, aside from the milk, its all carb...carb on carb on carb.  This can cause inflammation problems especially if you have an irritable gut.

After you cut out the dairy, if you still see this problem exists, try to eat some vegetables, fruit and protein (maybe a spinach omelet with a banana) instead of your oatmeal.

I don't smoke at all and I don't drink, and if I do drink then its like a sip of it.

For now that is all I eat, and if I do get hungry between meals, I usually eat some veggies, like cucumbers. I'm still getting the hang of my diet and fixing things here and there. I will definitely try that Chris, thanks. :)

Let us know how it goes.  If you cut out the dairy and notice no difference, we will have to troubleshoot with some other things :)
