Topic: Sabastian Foucan in Casino royale

It might be old news, but you can now see Sabastian Foucan in the trailor for Casino Royale doing some wicked jumps.  http://www.sonypictures.com/movies/casinoroyale/.  Parkour is going to get a major boost when this movie comes out in november, and It will be good if some of our American talent is well organized to take advantage of commercial and film opportunities.

Rumor has it that Sebastian has a stunt double in the movie. Does anyone know anything about this. I am assuming that it is a non-parkour related stunt and that there is no way that he wouldn't do a certain jump that some random stunt guy would. I hope it has to do with a legal issue (like in JB when we wanted to jump the stadium doors when they were so many feet open but  the people said it was too risky and they made it be less wide and of course he made it by over 5ft.)
 Like I said, I hope I am wrong on this matter so I am appealing to the pk community for answers....

Yes his stunt double was Curtis of team evo and possibly a couple of the zanshin bahamas guys (not sure about zanshin but i know they were involved somehow). because seb had an actually important acting role in the movie, a stunt double made sense because they could not afford to lose an important part of their cast to serious injury.

by the way, the stadium gap in jump britain was 13 ft. which is still pretty impressive.

13 ft is impressive but not amazing.  Yea, I was dissappointed to hear that he had a stunt double but it makes sense.

Well that disappoints me a LOT! Why would the Prince of Parkour hold out his parkour abilities. I understand he's all "world famous" and a star but above all he is a athlete. Being a athlete is what made him famous. Now they are taking that away and he must be accepting that too. You stay on top by being good not by being good back in the day. (Yes, I understand he still has MASSIVE skills but bottom line is he is limiting what he is passionate about for the almighty dollar and tha tis wrong.)

It was probably a contractual thing.  The movies' insurance company would not allow him to do what they consider to be a dangerous stunt when he has a prominent acting role.   Movies of this scale cost hundreds of thousands per day.  Replacing an actor after even a few days of shooting can be an expensive proposition.   Besides, this way he can share the wealth a little with some other PK dudes.  I'm sure he could do anything they came up with, and probably wanted to, but the movie business is after all a business.  I'm just happy to see Pk getting some notoriety, and some of it's practitioners able to make a living doing it.  All that being said, it is a shame, because nobody moves quite like Sebastion.

I see your point and that is a positive way of looking at it but bottom line is that even the positive people have to end their thougths about this matter with "it's a shame..." when instead out closing thoughts should be more along the lines of "whoa, Did you see that awesome move Seb. did in that movie!"
I hope I don't watch it and think "look at all the potential stuff Seb. could have done there, and I'm sure I will notice the monent of the stunt double and that will fill my heart with sadness.

At first he wanted to do all his own stuff, but he is an actual Character in the movie so Pat is right. He is doing all his own PARKOUR stunts, and he said you'll be able to tell when its him because his face will be visible.

Hey, if he's doing all of his own parkour stunts, then there is no issue at all.  I wouldn't expect Sebastian to roll a car or a fire burn or anything like that, but I figured it would be hard to get him from doing the Parkour, insurance or not.

yea, i read somewhere that he pulled some mega-strings to get the producers to allow him to do a certain stunt

Pat Kerby that is a good point.  That comment is what did it for me.  If he is not using the mindset of Parkour for some of these stunts then I guess it would be THAT BAD.  Although, I would really love to see him to all of his own stunts.  Tom Cruise refuses to let anyone do his stunts.  But then again that is Tom Cruise.

If the stunt is rolling a car, obviously I wouldn't expect him to do that. I am expecting him to do badass pk that seb does everyday before breakfast!

SkyNative- I am not trying to judge. I am trying to understand the situation. Every time we jam we carry a risk of injury. I am not asking Seb. "to risk his life" but his pk abilities are obviously above the normal levels of the average to experienced traceur, and I feel he could easily impress viewers without going past his level of comfort. I understand that the movie industry is just that- a industry. 
  Remember early jackie chan films that had awesome stunts and amazing fight sequences, now they are pretty calm for the most part. Jackie is still the man, but he no longer operates at that level. Seb. has no need to slow down at this time, and to the best of my knowledge he is still capable of amazing pk.
 I still feel that this movie will still open the American audience to the power of pk, but that "insiders" like us who know the mechanics and various skill levels of pk might be disappointed (where pk related movies should be extra special to us.)

My friend Casey O'Niel is Tom Cruises stunt double, which is the best, and worst stunt job in show business.  He is at the pinnacle of the pay scale, but he never gets on film.  He rehearses all of the stunts thatTom does until they are sure it is safe, and then Tom steps in and they roll camera.  As for Seb, I'm sure Skynative is right, he'll do all of the Parkour, because like Jackie Chan in the old days, or Tony Jaa now, who are you going to get to double him?
