IsoPure is a popular brand.  You can get it online or at Vitamin World, Vitamine Shoppe, GNC, etc.

Huh...Chris, you really use this stuff? How often?

The $11-per-lb. stuff I bought doesn't have half the ingredients the IsoPure does. Most of the things are vitamin additives, but in addition, it's got more sucralose then all its vitamins combined! Boo-hiss.

EDIT: Fixed link. BioChem Sports is the brand I use, the unflavored kind.

Point taken and noted.

I started using IsoPure years ago and I guess I thought I evaluated the ingredients -- but apparently I was not as well informed at that point in time.  I will be looking at the ingredients later tonight to see if I approve -- but based on your analysis i will likely be switching brands.

I'm using Jarrow Formulas chocolate whey and it's pretty good.  I had Met-Rx vanilla whey which wasn't bad but it got REALLY chalk if you used two scoops at once.

I use ON 100% whey isolate which tastes like nothing pretty much.  I use this when i wake up and after a workout.  The latest protein mix I've gotten is muscle milk just because it was 50 bucks for 5 pounds and it is basically a multivitamin in itself along with fiber, fat, carbs etc... Perfect for getting me through class.

At work (Starbucks) we have a protein powder that I shake up with whole milk. 24 fl. oz of awesome. I don't like some of the ingredients, but the drink's got fat, protein, and a touch of carbs (fiber), and it's quick and dirtay.
Milk [especially whole] is love.

QMKC, prepare for an embrace.

There it was. Federal legalization of raw milk sales for human consumption FTW!

Haha. The taste of raw milk does bother me a bit, but I can handle it. I like whole milk (store bought and whatnot), but milk at all is just awesome.
Just pure awesome.

QMKC, I have to admit, though I've read that the benefits of raw milk are through the roof, I haven't been able to have any. (Raw isn't available for sale for human consumption legally in Indiana, the closest farm that even attempts to sell for animal consumption [legal] is an hour away) However, I happen to live in the middle of the country, and at least 2 of my neighbors whom I've never met before own cows. I'm going to have to introduce myself.  ;D

Chris, was there supposed to link there or am I just stupid(er than I usually am)?

So... question.

What is the Cheapest (worthwhile) protein powder available? Im not too worried about whatever else is in it, since I need to consume more calories anyways (in fact, the more, the merrier!)

That, my friend, is a type of question I like to refer to as "a key to the floodgates".

Here's your primary problem: There are probably HUNDREDs of BRANDs of powders alone (not counting flavors and such). That being said, you also can't determine 'cheapest' at face value, what with discount cards,  coupons and the like. I would highly recommend the brand I bought (BioChem Sports) but do yourself a favor and check out the brands others have mentioned here.

Also, "the more the merrier" (regardless of source) on calories is a poor stance to take. If you're going to be taking a supplement, as Chris has taught me, make sure it's a high-quality supplement. Most of the things in lower-quality items we avoid are generally non-caloric anyway.

Chris: Mass media makes me Hulk-like. Alliterations for the win. That is all.

I just like how they had to bring a portly author on to yell at me about rBGH, which I don't consume, and that milk isn't that great of a source of calcium, which I don't drink it for.

Gigggggle.

It's just sad that it's to the point that shit foods are encouraged and promoted as 'healthy' and good quality sources of food are looked down on because noone knows better and they can't understand the big picture.

I swear I lose hope in humanity more and more every day.

Although, what was it he mentioned about protein having negative effects on calcium absorption?

That calcium/protein point may be valid, actually. Off-hand the best source I can recommend is Scott Kustes' series on milk over at The Modern Forager. He always goes into great detail and cites solid sources.

It very well could be. I'm just not sure exactly how that would work. Does it mess with the pH, and therefore affect absorption? hmm
