This was a really successful jam and we made a huge impact this weekend.  This area of town is a favorite not just for ourselves, but also for others who call it home.  The before/after comparison was very impressive.

Write up: We wanted our gym to be able to participate in the Leave No Trace program and let the community know who was taking care of the area that we train in.  We decided to join the "Adopt-a-Road" county program.  This usually has participants from local organizations since they receive grant money for caring for a road or park, as a gym we are not eligible for the grant money, so we are taking care of this road solely to give back and spread the word about parkour in our community.  We had a great turn out and picked up OVER 150 POUNDS OF TRASH!!!  Yes we weighed it :)  This information is all recorded and will be submitted to the county.  Unfortunately not everyone was able to stick around for the group photo.  We cleaned a total stretch of road that was 1.5 miles, both sides!

Write up: What a bump in turnout for our 2nd Leave No Trace event!  This time we met behind one of our most visited jam spots, The Philadelphia Art Muesum.  Yup the spot in Philly where you can watch at least 75 people a day trying to imitate Rocky.  This area recently flooded due to Hurricane Irene and a lot of other rain storms we have gotten.  This flooding caused a lot of the trash to float up and once the water receded, the trash stayed.  One of our participants got before and after photos of an area with an over abundance of Styrofoam (one of my trash cleaning pet peeves...this stuff just doesn't decompose!!!).  When I get those photos I will share them also.  We cleaned a lot, and I couldn't be more proud of this community.  We jammed around the city for a few hours and finished the day up with some amazing smoothies.  Successful day!

One of our members, Scott Siracusano, documented the event and did a great job!

Write up: Well, the good news is we were all well intentioned with this jam.  We arrived at the well known LOVE park in Philadelphia, PA which is usually not only LOOKING disgusting, but smelling pretty bad...so we figured it would be PERFECT to clean.  Plus theres always tons of tourists and its a regular training spot for us.  We arrived and not only noticed how clean the park already was, but also that there were trash bags lined up along one side of the park.  Someone beat us to it!!!  We didnt get fully discouraged though and still grabbed some gloves and trash bags and got what was left/had arrived since the initial cleaning.  We didnt get the amount of trash we wanted to but we still were able to get out there and get some cleaning done.  Good job Philly!!!
