Missouri Hotspots
« on: December 20, 2008, 11:25:44 AM »
I was looking at the main page a few days ago, and noticed that Nom (the last moderator) made a really great write-up for Founders Park, which is the area we usually train at here in Springfield.  This thread will be for people to post write-ups of their favorite training spots, whether you're in Springfield, KC, St. Louis, or Farmer's Junction.  :P

Here's the link to Nom's write-up: Founders Park, Springfield MO.

Here in the next few days I may copy/paste it into another message so you won't have to click a link.  Let's see some more hotspots thrown up here, pictures, videos and all!

Well, i remember seeing that write up. i LOVE the looks of that place and am so jelous that it's not here in stl. It looks absoltly perfect for PK.

So as far as my spot, i'll go get vid there soon as it warms up and i'm not working, but the place i am talking bout has Tons of rails, smallish walls, and then bigger stone walls, and tons of ledges, theres even a cliff(i don't recomend you jump off it o.O ). Theres also an ampitheater, which has a few good higher jumps and cat leaps in store, and some fun climbing...you'll need to go and use your mind to create your own path...at Jefferson Barracks Park. Go by the ampitheater for all these areas i speak of. Anyway...i'm bored and wanting to go running but can't....too tired and its 2:30 am and i'm not goin running at htis hour alone and without a cell phone......not smart idea!

If you go downtown by the Arch/Riverfront there is SO much to do. I wouldn't suggest any night time training. There was actually a building surrounded by scaffolding one time, that was fun. Basically if you go down by the rivers edge in front of the arch where everyone parks there are some pretty sweet rails and some technical stuff. Up by the arch there are some good places for conditioning (especially the stairs). Wall Spin the arch if you can. It's a great photo op and a great feeling ;) I just wouldn't suggest getting caught doing it... Police don't mind you doing any spots around the arch or riverfront as long as you don't look suspicious (maybe lose the hoods and gloves) and definitely check out the parking garages that are located right around there! There is a lot of stuff if you just get off at the downtown exit and park somewhere, say within a .5 mile radius of the arch you will have an extremely full day of training.

I always face north, therefore I have no guides other than my body and mind. By always facing north I am always moving forward and up, regardless of the obstacle in my path.

Unfortunately, It seems that Missouri doesn't have enough parkour. I'm constantly looking out for new spots, wherever I am. If I find anything amazing, I will keep everyone posted.

Necro thread.

So I want to go ahead and put this in here. With summer approaching and Jams popping up I figure it would be a good time to add where I'm at.

Rolla Missouri Missouri S&T Campus

There is a lot of stuff to do even if it's a little spread out. I'll post pictures later. No one should go out of there way by any means but if you're going through town and have a little time (It's right between Springfield and St.Louis) send me a PM, email me at pkwitbrod@gmail.com.

SIUE (Southern Illinois University: Edwardsville) is good for sure

I can now vouch for Founder's Park as probably one of the best single locations in Missouri (I mean based on size, obviously a full college campus would have more!) it lacks rails but it makes up for it with tons of technical cats and precisions as well as some major opportunities for lines.
If you head to founders make sure you visit the parking garage that is one block away. (just walk a full square block around founders park, you can't miss it, it's beautiful, it's also in my vid)

Queeny Park in the greater saint louis area is amazing (security is a biotch on the weekends so watch out)

Carondolet in saint louis city is very good. the playground is amazing (two seperate playground) lots of rails and room for some technical stuff. there are a few good pavilions as well that are excellent for beginners learning their basics and such.

that's all i have for now, I'll come back if I think of any others
