"Thunder Thighs" Syndrome
« on: December 17, 2008, 07:36:12 PM »
I have always had fat thighs, many refer to fat thighs as thunder thighs hence the title of the topic, but my thighs are pretty much my the only part of my body with fat, so i was just wondering what are some exercises to burn this fat off cause my workouts have burnt off every other fat except for my thighs.

Eat less to lose weight.

Your body, for whatever reason, has decided to plop the fat on your thighs.  For some people its the belly, for some its the ass, for some its the chest...for some its other parts like the thighs.

There are some implications that hormonal profiles lead to different fat deposition in the body.  Like, for example, higher cortisol can lead to more fat in the midsection whereas another hormonal profile may cause more deposition in the thighs...but I am only still learning of the intricacies of this -- so if anyone else has read anything about it, it may be a good time to share :P

With that said, your goal is fat loss, and for that you need to eat less.

Eating less is good for sure, but make sure you understand the difference between eating LESS and eating RIGHT! I would also jog for a bit as well because that will burn calories!

If you can't seem to stop eating, try this. Drink two cups of water before every meal and two cups after. You will feel more full after you have eaten and your body will crave less!

~Hope I could help

Focusing on calories burned during exercise is the wrong way to go about losing weight.

HIIT, heavy lifting, metcon-esque type exercises is what you want to focus on. It won't burn calories, but it will burn the fat post-exercise and make the proper adaptations post-exercise that favor fat utilization.

Great advice.  Make sure the quality of your food is high -- no junk, no garbage.  Also, water will help curb your appetite if you are trying to lose weight.

Good advice again.  HIIT, heavy lifting -- any type of high intensity exercise is what you want to go for, including high intensity bodyweight skills for those without equipment...

But the high intensity exercise doesn't burn fat post exercise -- well, it does, but not to any sort of significant degree.   Its the stress caused by high intensity that causes a widespread systemic response that facilitates fat loss...but that's kind of just to be clear... don't mean to nitpick you charlie :)

Charlie's right. Food you eat has a bigger impact than calories burned. Especially in regards to insulin control/hormone response
