Move of the Day - Dash Vaults
« on: November 16, 2005, 09:15:16 AM »
DASH VAULTS!!! Todays move is known as the dash vault. A good one and fun to do once you get past....come on people do i have to say it...FEAR!!! god you losers...well this is turning out to be a more of a "when i get the chance" move of the day. so ill put up the tutorials when i get a chance which should be every weekday or some days in between so either way ill get the moves up  ;)

1)Ok dash vaults. Not that scary of the move unless you think too much. Remember flow dont think. First as always the run up. You want to do a light jog to build up some speed and momentum so you can clear the object. Then.....

2) Make sure your not going over a object that is a good height so its not that difficult. When your about 2-3 feet away from it throw your power dominant leg  ;), Forward and then let your non dominant leg follow.

3) Lean back! Kinda make your back at a 45 degree angle. once your kinda angled and are directley over the object. Then put your hands on the object your vaulting and PUSH off and throw your legs out kinda like the motion of a kipup so you get more energy.

4)Then just follow the flow and land on your feet and continue with the run.

Again there are alot of variations to this so im gonna leave it up to all the other runners to describe and name them if they want to.

So from The Fallen...GET THE f#ck OFF THE COMPUTER AND GO DAMN IT! oh and dont fall  ;D

the thing about dash vaults i've found is that if you are going to start learning dashes, it's easier for me to start on something a little higher than you might imagine.  that way, you can make sure that your legs are going to get over.

and the scariest part is if you're going to try dashing on a rail, what if you just miss?  with such a small target, it's pretty easy to misjudge.  i've planted ass many times before, and concrete never gets softer.  dashing on ledges is much less intimidating.  any advice on making that mental jump?

Yeah, that sounds like a confidence problem man. They are a little scary because I have missed the area for my hands before and came crashing down onto a month of serious pain in the bottom.  :-\ ??? :o

how far back does everybody actually lean? i don't know what's making my dashes so horrific to look at, but i notice that one of the things i do is i don't lean back much, maybe 5-10*

Yeah, actually it is easier if you lean back. You can also get much more distance if you straiten out and lean back for some reason. When I don't lean back is when I bash my bottom on the surface.BTW you need to lift and push your legs up a bit more, also try to curve while you push off. OK :D

well now, it seems rescueing that pommel horse from GDS trash is now gonna pay off.
it'l be perfect for dash's, and hight adjustable rail with a not too skinny width over grass...Excellent
life is too short, so love the one you got
