Diet Soda: making the switch
« on: November 07, 2008, 07:05:36 PM »
Just a few weeks ago, diet soda would be the only thing i drank.  Then i decided to give up diet soda all together and make the switch to water.  Just one of the things i've noticed is that before, i could drink diet soda nonstop, until i finished the entire bottle and i would still be thirsty.  Now when i drink water I can only finish like two glasses before i'm no longer thirsty.  I also no longer have that feeling like there's something sticking to my teeth for like two hours afterwards.  Just thought i'd share a few of the benefits so far, and hopefully convice some other people to switch.

It seems to me that I get cottonmouth when I drink a lot of water. I have no idea why.

No milk?

I am addicted to diet soda and I'll admit it.  I have around 4 cans a day on average and during the summer it can get as high as 8+.  Horrible habit.

I'm pretty excited that so many people are getting off of
a.) Soda altogether
and especially
b.) Diet soda

My family only keeps diet soda in the house, so about two years ago I decided I would just no longer drink soda and only stick to water. The few times that I've drank(drunk?) soda since then have left me feeling weak and tired, even caffeine free drinks. I know I'm much healthier for it.

i know, too much sugar/carbs, but fruit juice is ok in moderation, right? like half a glass with something high protein to balance it? at least its natural, so no freaky chemicals like soda. I still drink mostly water with some milk, though.

You're on the right track for sure!

You gotta really be careful with fruit juice because most people consider it a drink...and people tend to ignore the calories in their drinks..

Remember, fruit juices have NO fiber to buffer aborption, so you need to eat veggies with it as well as ample fat/protein to buffer absorption.

But definitely on the right track, and I am probably telling you things you already know!
