We hit Virginia Hilton up occasionally during the week. Once or twice. it's erratic based on my friends work schedule, and recently we've been drilling vaults at my house, I have a long fence about waist high that practically screams vault me.

I've been wanting to go out to your Columbia meetup, but my weekends keep getting so full.
I'll keep trying though.

What is "old"? I'm 29 and find that I usu top out other traceurs on the age-scale... :)

You, and anyone here, are welcome to come up to Charlotte any weekend, for sure! Just let me know in advance so that things can be cleared up and the crew can be gotten together.

I'm 24 and I'm older than most people that are into pk. I think it's really more about how fit and flexible you are. Jacob thanks for the kong on the bed advice that sounds like a good plan. First time I tried on concrete and clipped my toes and had to bail. I'm pretty good at bailing without getting hurt though. What do you guys do for conditioning? I usually do chin ups, pull ups, crunches, oblique crunches, L-sits, clap push ups and I cycle for cardio. I take my son to visit his grandmother in charlotte sometimes so I could possibly do charlotte at some point as well.

I'd add dips if you can find a place to do them.

its really not that hard to find somewhere to do dips. i  use chairs and old buckets. just about any two things stable and level can be put together to do dips on. o and im not sure how i forgot but QM.

I was thinking about getting some still rings but every time I look everything I can find is outrageously expensive. Does anybody know of a cheap alternative? I built my own parallettes they work pretty well. Oh yeah I will throw another question out there. I usually wear some sort of thin shorts while I'm out training but now that it's getting colder that doesn't really work out so well, any suggestions?

well there is no need to ever buy expensive equipment. not sure of an alternative though. i would say just dont worry about it. as for pants i love cargo pants. apk also sells some capries.

I wear sweat pants and roll up the legs, mainly cause I'm a bit short and everything messes with my shoes. I also have some double layered shorts from kohls that are warm enough once I've been moving for a bit.

yea im tall and thin so any pants i wear can either fit in lenght or waist no both. i like lenght so i need to where a belt with everything. so pretty much it depends on ur body type tollie

I will try the sweatpants sounds like a good cheap fix. I'm 30 or 31 in the waist and 32 length so I also run into problems finding a good fit. aXp/andrew are you going to be back in clemson in january or sooner? I am just going to keep conditioning as much as I can until I can find someone to that knows more than me to train with. We should try to get all or at least some of the SC people together one weekend. What are everyone's schedules like and how far would you be willing to drive? I work during the day m-f but on the weekend with enough notice I could get a babysitter and I would go as far as charlotte or columbia if I felt I would learn something. We need to try to find a good middle ground for everyone so nobody has to drive incredibly far. So let me know what you think. If anyone wants my number to expedite the process just let me know.

Yeah it will probably be hard to coordinate everyone's schedules but eventually schedules will sync up and I can just keep putting the invitation out there until the opportunity presents itself

Try 43.  I'll see what I can do, but I'm thinking now that it will probably be next year before I get up there, too much going on the rest of the year, starting with the martial arts clinic I'm going to in a couple of days.

First off, I think it's great that there's some real activity starting up in SC. I'm definitly going to be posting a lot more on apk, so let's all try to keep up the communication and get some sort of training or mini-jam planned for the near future. Jams are a great way to meet people and improve in training and just your overall preception in terms of parkour. Some times all it takes is hearing or seeing how someone else approachs parkour in general or a specific movement to make it click in your own mind.

I'll be back in Greenwood, SC in mid December, but with Christmas and everything I wouldn't imagine we could do much then. I 'll be back at Clemson probably right after christmas or whenever the school year actually starts.

In terms of meeting-up I'm completely open to just about anything. I'll drive if I need to (give others lifts)and let people crash at my place if they want. I'm not really sure where the best place to have a jam would be. Columbia seems ideal considering it's in the center of SC and its fairly large so there's bound to be spots. One thing with jams is that you want to make sure the host has something in mind in terms of spots to visit and so on, since people are traveling and you want to make sure everyone gets as much training time in as possible.

Clemson's campus is pretty good, it's not the greatest place I've done parkour at but there's definitely more than enough to warrant a jam, in my opinion.

I'd like to share some advice on what beginners show work on or what conditioning I do, but right now I'm at work so I'll post that a little later.

I actually may be meeting some guys in clemson tomorrow. They were also talking about hitting up asheville at some point. I have not been to asheville since I started getting into pk so i wasn't really looking for good spots. I may be able to get to columbia soon. I have a friend living there so I have a place to stay. I don't know anyone that does parkour there though so I will just have to wander around looking for spots. Until then I'm going to keep training. It's getting cold here though. A lot less pleasant now.

So I'm hoping to go to columbia sometime before next year so if anyone is training down there regularly that I could meet up with just let me know.
