alright so this is what i basicly use to tell people what parkour. im not sure if its better or worse than just asking them if they remember the begining of casino royale.

-Parkour is the discipline in which one trains to manuver through the environment in the quickest and most efficient way possible, only using their body and the and the environment to propel themselves through the environment.-

the focus is on the word discipline, as i dont believe that parkour is a sport, because although it can be competitive, parkour is learning to move through the environment rather than a focus on defeating an opponent. and whenever i hear someone saying that it is an art form, i look at them as if they dont know anything.

also, if someone can help me with the relationship between parkour and freeruning. right now, whenever i try to explain it i feel like i am calling freerunning a useless derivative of parkour, and that is not what i want to do.
This is not a sport; this is superman versus the giant.

well i see free running as more of the sport competetive thing... its pretty much just taking everything from parkour... adding some more flashy stuff... and showing off... and sometimes competing and stuff... doing comps, and stuff like that... but both can be pretty close to eachother

'Parkour is a discipline, were one learns to interact with their enviorment.

Freerunning is the application of this discipline as a sport.
It is always moving forward, never stopping to look back.'

This is what me, and my friends, tell anyone who asks what the hell we're doing.

Also, I personally consider Freerunning to simply be a combination of Parkour, learning to move through your world, and Tricking, learning to use momentum and move your body in all ways possible.

Of course, I'm just a rookie, so don't take anything I say seriously.
