WOAH   :o
I was expecting a much later time, however that is extremely reasonable!
Thanks!

I would give us about 4-5 hours for the hike/playtime (which is generous, but I'm assuming we'll play at the top a while).  Soooo, if we start at 7 am, and no one stops on the way back for food (or at least the car you ride in doesn't), we should be back around 2-ish in DC...

Wait, isn't the hike one way alone like 4 hours or so? How does that work?

When I hike this (and I've done it often), it only takes me about 2 hours to get to the summit...

Oh never mind then, though I'd imagine people would want to play around for more than an hour on boulders and such, not to mention there might be things to encounter on the way up right? Plus time for lunch and such.

To be safe, I would assume a 4:00 return to DC time in case (a) we stay at the top longer -- although this hike takes a lot out of the legs so we'll see really how long we stay on the top, (b) we decide to stop for food/drink on the way back -- there's a great little place in Sperryville that has good local brews and sandwiches, (c) uh, I have no (c).

Re: Old Rag Mountain Parkour Trip - Mov 2nd 5:00 am FINAL DETAILS + SLEEPOVER
« Reply #65 on: October 30, 2008, 01:06:05 PM »
Mark and the Primal Crew have offered to let us have a pre-hike sleepover at Primal so we can maximize sleep time and minimize leaving people behind.  For those not taking part in the Primal Sleepover, please aim to arrive at about 4:45 am so we can leave AT 5:00 am.  I am not going to do a head count and make sure everyone is there, we will be dumping sleepy bodies into cars and leaving.  It is up to you to be one of those sleepy bodies.

For those braving the Primal Sleepover, Rob will be there around 9:00 pm to let us in so we can set up our sleeping bags and stash our lunches in the fridge (its small so if you have a cooler, it might be better to bring a small one or have non-perishable snack/lunch items).  Please note that we need to respect the gym (no alcohol), the resident trainer, and those who are actually trying to sleep at an early hour.  There is a Keurig coffeemaker, which makes coffee of questionable nature, but may suffice for sleepy drivers.  If you want real coffee, feel free to bring your own coffeemaker.

I will bring breakfast pastries/muffins/donuts, juice, and fruit to feed sleepover people in the morning and to fuel drivers.

For those who don't need sleep or need a little something to make the bumps in the dark go away, there is a bar just down the street at the Convention Center.  Please respect those who are sleeping already when you come back.  For those not of drinking age, there will be some of us who will inevitably be still a little tipsy from Halloween who will be taking it easy.  We can have sleeping bag races up and down the gym until we get tired.

This is the head and car count as of this moment (from Facebook, APK, and random people I've spoken with).  If your plans have changed, especially if you are a driver, please let me know ASAP.  If you would like to come and you have not RSVP-ed as a hard "yes" please ask me before simply showing up if you need a ride.  If I missed your name, let me know ASAP.

Please be nice to your driver and pitch in gas money.  Bring music to keep them awake.
