AAAHHHH!!! HELP ME!
« on: August 18, 2008, 07:15:45 PM »
So I have taken it upon myself to start a parkour club at my university. Heres the thing though. Im by far not the greatest at it and everyone that wants to do it is extreme beginner! So can I get some suggestions on how to go about training them to do parkour? I figure the first few weeks will be on basic movement, making sure they are doing the right, thus to minimize the risk of injury, but after they've got the basics... whats next? Any clues would be extremely helpful! Thanks

There are quite a few threads on this. Search for "training beginners" or something similar.
She followed slowly, taking a long time,
as though there were some obstacle in the way;
and yet: as though, once it was overcome,
she would be beyond all walking, and would fly.

One of the best pieces of advice I got when I was in a similar position was not to assume the role of a teacher.  Teach what you know, yes, but don't be The Teacher, especially if you don't feel ready.  Everyone's a teacher; everyone's a student.  I believe it was Muse who told me that.
